Why are so many G coupe owners ricing out their vehicles???? I figured we were out of that class.......Honda Civics and Accords, I can understand but our G's??????? People, stop adding Folgers Coffee can and tricking out the exhaust to mimic all the other cheap ricers out there. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone but I am sick and tired of seeing G coupes on the road with tricked out ugly ground effects, stupid stickers all over the windows and panels, neon lights, and especially cheezy customized license plates. Be original and classy. Here are some examples of customized license plates I have seen on the G coupes: G CN FLY, G This, UP UR G, G 35 CP.......[banghead] How RETARDED!!!!!!!!!! These are not $15,000 cars people!!!!!![:(!]

Are u talking about me? I am going to order a set of greddy's body kit, but i wonder what's wrong with that? It just made the G looks better and it doesn't look any rice. You compared our G to civics? I can tell u that no matter what we do to our G. It is still way much better than the civics. People got their own decisions on what kind of G they like. Some ppl like the G to be such a race car, they buy spoiler, bodykit, rims. Some others want luxury, they add rims and lower. But i don't see any bad thing about them.

I have seen a red G with a huge sticker on the side. But that G is still the best G i have ever seen in my life until now. I think it depends on what kind of modification u do. I think all of them are fine except the hardcore ugly spoiler and carbon hood (I think its cheap).

Well, take easy. People have their own decision.
In my case, its because of too many people are driving the G on the road in my area. I saw around 3-5 everyday and i want to make some changes to make my own G. I think its a reasonable mod.
(and greddy's kit doesn't look cheesy at all :) )

Sure, it's slightly unnerving to see tasteless modifications done to our cars, but not all mods are tasteless. There are some good looking body kits out there which will make the G35 look great if installed cleanly IMO.

Even if it's a tachy body kit with a Maaco install job......they payed for the car(or are still paying for it) and they have every right to do what they want with it.

If you don't like the way their modified cars look...the next time you see one, just let it remind how much you like the way your car looks stock.

I have not seen any riced out in my area. Where in TX are you superdave? Maybe all of them are in North Dallas. [lol]

I did see one with a bumper sticker on it. UGH!

I am in Plano, TX north of Dallas. It's funny how people always buy cars trick them out to match a more expensive car. If they have that money, just buy that car in the beginning. Again, as other have stated.....it's their money....but IMHO, have some CLASS!!!!!

I completely agree with you partyman66....It's just that G is such a beautiful car and it kills me that people are butchering these cars just like all the Mustangs out there. There is a difference between a classy mod and a ricey mod. [:D]

An interesting and scary thread. In 1988, when they were still respectable, I bought a Civic Sedan which I liked so much, I ended up keeping it for ten years, so I still feel some affection for these cars, at least the "clean" now-older ones. A few days ago, on another forum, the topic of Corollas vs. Civics as new buys came up, with the originator trying to decide between the two. Here's what I had to say on the issue. I really hope the wonderful G does not suffer the same fate.

"I was the happy, ten year owner of a terrific 1988 Civic LX Sedan, but I've got to weigh in in favor of the Corolla. I'm very displeased with the evolutionary direction the Civic has taken. The newer examples just don't seem to have the same good feel as the one I had. Laugh if you will, but my 88 sort of made me think this is what BMW would have produced if they had been forced to build a FWD version of the old early 70s 2002. Low stance, flat cornering, big open "greenhouse", precise shifting, etc. It was only when you got frisky with the gas pedal that you got a quick and certain reminder that this car came from across the other ocean. The new ones just don't have this feel at all.

There's another problem, I'll call it a "social issue" with the Civics. While it has little to do with the "mechanical merits" of the car, it seems like the whole Civic identity has been hijacked by a legion of young guys intent on making what was once the premier "economy" car into a performance machine. While a very small minority of these guys actually do succeed in producing a fast Civic, most are bathtub surgeons whose malpractice results in monstrous orange, black, and purple things with hopeless whaletails and "Type-R" stickers slapped all over them that hobble-bobble down the road on frightfully misrigged suspensions, while the emanations from their fartcan mufflers assault the eardrums of everyone else. And the really scary thing is that the "patients" of these "surgeons" seem to be getting newer and newer every year.

OK, maybe that was a tad harsh. But the phenomenon is out there and can't be denied. I can only conclude that this is going to ultimately have a drastic effect on the residual value of all Civics as the image of the car moves from that of a respected teacher's car to RICER!!!. Buy with care.

your cup of tea maybe not be mine...relak partner..if you decide to put an after market exhaust on your G, or paint the calipers, great, if you like it stock, more power to you..although each person's threshold of what is considered "ricey" may vary...

Man I don't understand why people are referring to the term 'ricer' with such negative connatation. It's so derogatory, but I guess to you 'whites' it seems ok but oh well it's a white man's world anyways:D OK, to get to the point, superdave, there are alot of mods out there to cheapen the G, I agree, but most people that does hook up their G that I've seen is classy and not even close to being tasteless. You might be tired of seeing modded G's but I'm tired of seeing stock G's. I mean it might not appeal to you but to many people want to customize their G and I for one applaud it. Also, if people are modding their G with exhausts it's not all cheap stuff. Most of the stuff out there will really give more power to the G. I mean how can you sit there and call people 'retarded' for trying to get most out of their engine. There are many people in here that have modded their G and would not appreciate you calling them 'retarded'. If you don't like it don't express your opinions in a tasteless manner like calling people 'retarded' please. I'm not trying to argue with you but this is just my 2 cents. Oh by the way my car is stock, but I just though you went the wrong route to express your feelings towards modded G's. But besides that welcome to the forum:D

Iron,
I'll have to disagree with you on this. I think many mods (such as larger rims and exhaust) that people use to "hook up" their cars do in fact rob it of some power.

Some people consider an Navigator with chromed 22s and 12" subs to be classy. That doesn't mean it is.

Hmmm I was refering to like exhaust systems like INjen, borla, and things of that nature. They do give you power. I never said anything about larger rims because putting 20' on the G will rob power from the G, I know that. Well we'll never win because we all have differnt tastes but check out dynos for different exhausts, they do give power:D

Rice, you're the only rice that I like, next to brown rice.

I've always been about go before show. Engine mods, suspension, exhaust. Clear corners, that's cool. Factory spoiler, splash guards whatever, I think the G is super clean without any of that crap. Each his own, if you want to *"mutilate" the looks of your car, that's cool too, it's your car. Obviously this upsets superdave and ricelike2310 has a different opinion about it.
I can't believe people are so sensitive about this topic.

Seriously fellas and ladies, don't let this thread get like politics.
Like I was jokingly telling ricelike, enjoy your ride.

*My opinion only.
Enjoy your cars no matter which route you take it.

Homeboy, I'm not being "gay to you". I was joking with you. Quit being so sensitive. Scroll back up and re-read everything.

You asked if superdave was talking about you. Of course he's not talking about you! He was speaking in general. You put yourself out there and every post that you've written was concerning body kits, spoilers, lips or whatever. You happen to fit the description. I poked a little fun at you and told you to enjoy your car. If you want to keep crying about it and murder the english language, go ahead.

Good luck with the ricing.

Dizz, all the mods i am planning to do is to make my G looks better. I am not a racer and i will never do any mod to increase my hp. I wasn't try to be offensive. We all love our Gs. The only difference between us is i like it with a bodykit and nice rims and u like how it looks stock, thats it.
You shouldn't start this offensive word "fool" i didn't say anything bad thing to u and u are just keep being gay @@"
