No guesses here, anybody go to the NY show and get an answer?
Thanks for the heads up on those numbers. That's pretty significant. Now I know why the Z feels so much stronger even in the AT's that I've driven.6MT G37 Coupe = 3668
vs
350z base = 3339
350z enth = 3346
350z tour = 3400
350z grand = 3404
So best case for the G35, it's only ~265lbs heavier.
The specification sheet that you can see on Infinitinews.com shows the 3,668 lb weight you list, but it also shows the 350z weight as 3,500 lbs (for the roadster) and 3,600 lbs (for the coupe). Now, I assume the roadster and coupe weights are switched, but if the spec sheets are wrong for the 350z, why are we so sure the new G37 spec sheet is correct?6MT G37 Coupe = 3668

Nissannews.com shows the 07 350z with the weights I posted? I didn't see a 3500-3600lb listing? The specification sheet that you can see on Infinitinews.com shows the 3,668 lb weight you list, but it also shows the 350z weight as 3,500 lbs (for the roadster) and 3,600 lbs (for the coupe). Interesting. If you go to Infinitinews.com and click on Nissan, then 350z, the spec sheets read different weights. Must be a screw up on their part.Nissannews.com shows the 07 350z with the weights I posted? I didn't see a 3500-3600lb listing?

The 350z has always been lighter than the G35 coupe, so it wouldn't surprise me if the new coupe actually is ~3600lbs. Current models are over 3500lbs as is.
04 G35I did go to the NY auto show. The weight has been reported as 3,658. That's 223 pounds more than my 2003 6MT. Let's hope the added 50 HP will keep the lb/hp ratio about the same.

Another interesting comparison:04 G35
Engine rating - 3450/275 (new SAE rating) = 12.5 lbs/hp
To the wheels - 3450/235 (est from dynos) = 14.7 lbs/hp
08 G37
Engine rating - 3668/330 = 11.1 lbs/hp
To the wheels - 3668/287 (from automobile magazine) = 12.7 lb/hp
The 08 has a much better weight/hp ratio. A bit better than the 07 sedan which already is quicker by a decent amount from the 04s.
My 07 Z did 270rwhp stock with only ~2400 miles on the car. I bet if I pulled the mods off and threw it back on the dyno "stock" it'd be even stronger now.To the wheels - ????? (anyone dynoed at VQ35HR)
The 35HR must be a little underrated at 306 HP if it made 270 RWHP all stock...probably closer to 315 HP if compared to the G37's flywheel vs. rear wheel numbers. (Course, the 37VHR must be underrated at 330 as well...im sure the driveline loss is more than 13%...)My 07 Z did 270rwhp stock with only ~2400 miles on the car. Mine's a base, so figure approx 3336lbs/270rwhp = 12.356 lbs/hp
With just a couple mods it's into the mid 11's now.
Yeah, these very strong motors. And yes, those are dynojet numbers with the sae correction. The 35HR must be a little underrated at 306 HP if it made 270 RWHP all stock...probably closer to 315 HP if compared to the G37's flywheel vs. rear wheel numbers.
Was yours tested on a Dynojet?
