look about 7/10's of the way down.

G37: 3,616
G37 Journey: 3,624
G37 Journey (w/ Sport Package): 3682
G37 6MT: 3668

So the 6mt has gained about 100 lbs over the 06 coupe. I wonder how much the RAS adds though since it comes standard with RAS yet the 06 doesn't have it factored into the total weight...

DAMN!!!!!!! i cant beleive that G37 is going to weigh that much, but the 335i also weighs around 3600lbs so i guess they are staying in line with the competition.

BTW here is the official M3 not too impressive, that silver concept had a wishful thinking bodykit

I think its because the Manual comes with the sport package, larger wheels, and RAS. Maybe a fw other things. But yea i agree, that is kinda bullshit.

You know I just realized something positive about all of this.

The '07 G35 coupe still has the old VQ motor while the '07 350Z got the new VQHR. So based on logic, the '08 350Z probably won't be re-tooled, a year after, it's been refreshed. So... that means that for once the '08 G37 will probably out perform the 350Z with the new 3.7VQ. Has anyone thought about what this will mean???...

I mean, I guess it could be possible that Nissan will drop in the new 3.7 VQ into the Z, but I would guess it highly unlikely. I doubt they'd refresh a car that just got refreshed only a year before. So the new G37 should enjoy a performance boot over the 350Z, which it never has before.

well they updated the current model with a new hood and a new 306hp engine. but 09 will bring a new look for the Z and it will have the 3.7 engine.
and yes i was wondering why they produced the VQ35HR producing 306 hp anyway. they seem to be getting away from it soon, even the SUV's are going to have the 3.7 engine!!!

YOu will be able to afford one no problem, remember last time the M3 came out and in 00 and 01 the engines were blowing up with less than 10k, i'm sure BMW's fine engineering will hold true and you can get an 08 no one wants that BMW already replaced the engine.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here....

Even if the G37 has an extra ~25hp over the Z next year, the Z is still ~330lbs lighter in weight. I think that'll still make it very close and it'll be a drivers race, with the Z having just the slightest edge. Unless the VVEL gives the 3.7L motor have some crazy powerband, then the G will have a slight edge. Though it's gonna be really close either way.

04 G35

Engine rating - 3450/275 (new SAE rating) = 12.5 lbs/hp
To the wheels - 3450/235 (est from dynos) = 14.7 lbs/hp

08 G37

Engine rating - 3668/330 = 11.1 lbs/hp
To the wheels - 3668/287 (from automobile magazine) = 12.7 lb/hp

The 08 has a much better weight/hp ratio. A bit better than the 07 sedan which already is quicker by a decent amount from the 04s.
