i'm looking for some feedback on the Stillen lightweight pulley set...THE STOCK SIZE pulleys...im not underdriving it....i was gonna get headers, but it seems everyone says its not worth the money. so i figure ill spend $300 less and get the same amount of power from the pulleys. the set weighs 5pounds less than stock pulleys.....for $275 it seems like a good hp/$ purchase

I wouldn't waste my money on those. I would think that the power gains they state are for the underdrive pulleys not just the lighter weight aluminum pulleys.

Well you gain roughly 2.5hp for each pound shaved off the crank pulley. I'm trying to squeeze every hp I can get from all motor. I'm getting them regardless. More interested if anyone had issues with engine life and such

if you want every last hp from NA then get the underdrive.

all engine accessories are parasitic. I don't recall what drives the water pump but all the rest of the crap can be disconnected and not effect the longevity of the motor. so how could driving them at a different speed effect the longevity?

I still call BS on the 2.5hp (last time it was 3) per pound. a 10lbs weight savings by switching to a lightweight flywheel will not yield 25hp.

I'm not saying it won't help but 2.5hp per pound is beyond optimistic.

im not chancing undercharging with my alternator with underdrive pulleys...this is a direct quote from the unorthodox website, who is the best pulley company out there...........Unorthodox Racing pulley sets on average can provide gains of 8 to 15 HP and 6 to 10 lbs.-ft. on normally aspirated engines and 10 to 18 HP and 10 to 20 lbs.-ft. on forced induction engines. Higher gains can be realized on vehicles that are modified.

These gains are obtained in two ways. First, and most important, is the weight loss. There is an average of 2.7 HP gained from every pound lost off the crank shaft. With the lighter accessory pulleys, as much as 15% to 30% more power can be found. 85% of our gains are from weight loss.

The rest of the gains are from underdriving, which accounts for about 15% of the total gains....................15% of 10hp is 1.5hp....not worth killing your battery :D

anything higher than idle is probably sufficient to run all your electronics and charge your battery even with under drive pulleys. The faster it turns the more current and voltage the alternator is capable of producing. The voltage regulator keeps that stuff in check. As long as it feeds the voltage regulator with sufficient power you will not have any changes to your electrical system.

underdrive pulleys and serious car audio would be a bad combination though.

o yea. i was wrong about the 2.5hp per pound loss. thats not on ALL rotating masses., only the crank. my fault

Totally understand....its really not dirty or anything. Just pictures of chicks who really look like him. But considering the name of the website, I wouldn't search for it from work either. I did it from home. Guess it depends on where you work.

Yeah, its funny, but I did a double take on the first pic I saw and all joking aside.....it took me a bit to figure out which one was the ***** and which one was Biebs...

Must be nice to be "The Boss". I'm a boss but only one of many. and we have something called a "Human Resources Department"....they kinda frown on offensive internet activity, no matter what your title.

If you're refering to my avatar, that's not my business. That's a picture of the sign for the old Gilley's bar at the Frontier in Vegas that was torn down. The new Gilley's is at Treasure Island.
