Hey guys im getting a G35 sedan soon; just wondering what intake has the best gains?

Injen is OK. It's just that with the VQ in the tune it is for the G's you don't really squeeze a lot more power out of it.

As it is the 05 engines have a revised lower plenum (intake manifold) and exhaust valve timing. However I think the single biggest change is that the rpm limiter is raised and that's where the 05's get their peak power. Keep in mind that this is all with the 05's actually making less torque than the 04/03 cars.

The Z tube is the air intake tube off of a 350Z which has the same engine as your sedan and my coupe. The Z tube doesn't have the resonators that the G does, so the sound will be a bit more aggressive and at $75 it's much cheaper than anything else out there. The Injen might (and I stress might) get you a couple of hp more at the crank, but nothing worth the extra $$$.

Now if you are going forced induction this is another story and you'll want to change your intake and exhaust systems.

Yeah the sedan side has always been a bit dead here, but the people are better as a whole than any other G site. For more technical information, I'd suggest G35Driver.com and MY350Z.com (Z forum is the best out there for technical). Fresh Alloy really isn't too good, but G35FRENZY.com has some pretty good information just not too much traffic.

I noticed a decent difference in performance and sound when I installed the Stillen cold-air intake with the Z tube, even more when I added the Borla cat back exhaust. I like the added performance and sound is not obnoxious like my old truck where people could hear me coming. This system has a nice hum to it.

You installed the Z-Tube AND a Stillen CAI? I was under the impression that the Z-Tube acts the same as a CAI.

Also, has anyone else seen this HKS "Racing Suction Kit?" It seems like a crock to me. http://www.i-m-racing.com/hksrasukitg3.html

Also, does anyone have a K&N Typhoon Air Intake? (I did a search and nothing came up.)

The Stillen actually acts as the intake in the front and the Ztube connects it farther back to the engine.

So which one should I get? Injen has more hp then the Z tube? Does the Z tube give any hp? if so how much?
What are the best springs for the sedan, with a even drop and nice looking?????

Thanks bro~

If you are looking for bang for the buck, then Z tube. Although it's really difficult to tell since there isn't a whole lot of information on the improvements to power in the 05's (a bunch on what it does for the 03/04s though). In the 03/04's the Z tube provides gains, not losses. The Injen if it gains more than the Z tube, it probably doesn't do so by much.

Z tube is a standard feature on the Z's and the same as our G tube less the resonators......so the dealer shouldn't bitch to you about it unlike what might happen if you are running an aftermarket intake.

Realistically the intakes is for sound unless you are going to go F/I, so go with what you think sounds good.

I have heard of some reasonable differnemces in gas milage. You can get the Z tube and a JWT pop charger. I would rrecommend the Plenum spacer from Motordyne if you want to feel some gains. I still have a stock intake and felt a decent difference once I added the spacer. It looks stock so no one will notice it.

I have the cast Crawford plenum(the most recent version); will my new 2005 sedan 6spd benefit from my Injen c/a intake, Crawford plenum, and Borla duel exhaust. I also have the Unorhtodox crank pulley and waterpump pulley are they also worth the install. I'm taking all those mods off my '03 and wonder if I should use them or sell them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Intakes are exactly what they look like....TUBES. They will all yield about the same increase in power...which isn't much. Only "so much" air can enter the throttle body and the intake tube just acts as a better channel to get it there. I have heard the stillen one as well and it does sound good...epsecially with their exhaust!

If you really want power gains save your money and go FI...whether it be supercharger or turbo. The real gains are felt there.

One thing that doesnt get mentioned much is negotiating the cost. I live in Houston, Tx. There are lots of import shops here and you will be surprised how easy it is to negotiate price on all parts. I called on place for theInjen CAI on my 05at g35. the guy said 299.00 plus tax. So I called another and the same thing happend. Most of these places are run by mom and pop types. I asked to speak the owner and nicely asked if he would do it for 230.00. and I would be there in 10 minutes. He said 250.00 and its a deal. Told him o.k. and it was done. I did call another place and he told me 299.00. That was good enough for me. You have to consider the market you shop in. Supply and demand is everything. If you are in a small town with limited options you may have to pay the price or order online. I dont like to wait. When i want something I want it now. hehe. These places will take a skinny profit sale over no sale everytime. Wheel and Deal guys. peace out

Ok guys, let me ask this...where is the best place to purchase the 350Z tube for the G35? I've done many searches & can't find stock, except through dealers for like $98+? thx

Ok, another question. (Sorry) I was looking at the pics of the "Z Tube" & then I looked at the stock intake tube. I noticed a couple of things.....
Question 1. The small tube that runs to another location is at the top part of the stock tube & in the middle of the Z Tube. DO you have to run an extention of some kind??

Question 2. There is some kind of electrical plug-in towards the bottom of the stock tube & don't see any in the Z Tube, (pics anyway)? What is this & where to put it in. problems, problems, problems.

Thx GZire & GGG

Just had my local Infiniti dealer Install the Z tube, JWT Pop Charger and Stillen Cat Back Exhaust. Love it. Great sound, easily noticeable power increase and got a G35X as a loaner while they did it. Impeccable Service.
