Ok, so since I'm an Infiniti and 6mt.net noob, I've noticed the VIN # on my G begins with JNK (I know, my first thought was "JUNK??" - I prefer to think of it as the 'good' kinda junk... like a badonkadonk. or junk in the trunk).

So, one of my previous cars was a Honda, and it's VIN# began "JHM".

I've surmized that the J = Japan, the second letter is the make (N for Nissan? H for Honda). Any guesses what the 3rd (or other for that matter) numbers area associated with?

Better yet, can someone explain to me why the hell I even care? ;)

World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI)
Note than not all the codes have 3 positions. In the case of two position codes, the blank code is not a blank, but usually represents part of the body style or division. If the third position is a "9", it means that the manufacturer will produce less than 500 units per year.

LOL! The 10th character is the year according to the linked info, not the 3rd.

My G's just an 05, but I LOVE it.
2004 FTW!!!!!!!!
