Hey everyone, I own a 2007 g35 coupe and i am currently in the middle of a bit of a dillema. I am about 45 min from home and I can't get my trunk to close. I slam it down and it just pops back up. I tried to see if maybe the emergency release was stuck or something but that seems ok. It almost seems as if the trunk won't go all the way Down. Has anyone had this happen? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you pushed the trunk release button to release the latch? Maybe the latch got closed while the trunk was open so not the trunk lid cannot latch.

Yeah I pushed the release button and still it won't close I tried turning the rubber stoppers as well to see if maybe that had anything to do with it but still nothing it seems like everything is working properly so it's really annoying that it's not closing. I can't pin point anything that looks to be malfunctioning.

will the latch close if you push it with a phillips screwdriver? you can put the screwdriver back in there and open it back up.

Yeah it will it seems to be fully working its almost like something is stopping the trunk from going all the way down but there is nothing in the way. If I put the trunk all the way down there is a gap larger than usual around the seams of where it connects on top of the bumper and lights. It's weird cant seem to figure out what's wrong

Sounds like a PITA Carlo ,,, Gilley is the man though. Let us know what you find out.

I'd drop by a dealer and tell the Service Advisor I'm embarassed about not knowing what must be a simple mistake. See if they'll come out and take a quick peek. Within 30 -90 seconds, it'll either be corrected or diagnosed as a 'problem'. It seems like it has to mechanical related even if something just slightly out of alignment.

My trunk won't latch either

Ok, my trunk all of a sudden wouldn't latch today. Auto latch is working perfect with screw driver. Tried the lid stops and not much luck getting any movement out of them. Then I found this forum topic with my same issues but it stopped before the resolution... What happen at the dealer? I'm a major "DIY" guy, so what happen?
Ps. Girl friends car so please help me look like a hero. :)

Maybe take the cover off of the trunk area around the lock, crawl in the trunk with a flashlight and shut the trunk to see what the difference is between the screw driver and the trunk. May sure you have a way out of course. There is always the emergency trunk release.

I once dropped my keys in the trunk when closing it, and the trunk just kept popping open with warning sounds as I tried to close it. Very cool feature that didn't allow me to be stranded with my keys locked in the trunk. Wondering if it's sensing your key too close to the trunk???

Oh ... so my key is stupid ... ?

I hope it gets cold and rains then turns to snow and snows so bad you have to learn the 800 words eskimos have for snow..

and then be tested on it at the end of week (by mean eskimos that have a fire pit and branding irons).

I've got a courtesy key that is in a hard plastic molded holder that is like the size of a debit card but thicker that goes in my wallet so I always hav one if I lock my keys in the trunk

I just bought a 2007 G35 and the trunk would not close. I don't even know how long it was like that before I even noticed...but once I did, I was kind of freaking out. I looked at this forum and saw other ppl having this problem but no solution. At first I thought it may have to do with that internal trunk latch (the one you pull when someone accidentally gets locked in the trunk) or the switch in the glove box that locks the trunk, but I couldn't find anything in manual about it.

THE SOLUTION

I can't take credit for this because I read it somewhere else. But what I guess happened is the part of the trunk that the latch locks to got sunk a little. Like the bolts loosened a little and caused that mechanism to sink just enough that the top latch cannot grab it. I hope that makes sense. What my bf and I did was take out the plugs and plastic from the rim of the bottom of trunk to reach the two bolts holding that mechanism. We loosened the bolts just enough to pull that u-shaped bracket up (it came up just a bit) and re-tightened the two bolts. i was kinda shocked but it worked! The top latch was able to grab the bottom and shut closed.

hope this helps someone :)
