With the roof open and undisguised for the first time, Mercedes engineers have been testing the four-seater CLK Cabrio out in the open on Germany’s roads. Photos of the CLK Cabrio with the top up were taken – of all places – at the Munich Airport.
The topless CLK will be shown at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show and will hit European showrooms next May. They should be arriving in the States shortly afterwards.
Clearly visible are the two domes mounted on the trunklid, which lead to the two rear headrests. Unless these are very cleverly disguised, we now believe the CLK Cabrio will be coming with an electrically operated canvas top.
Like the CLK Coupé, the Cabrio will be available with air suspension and 4Matic all-wheel drive as an option. The brake-by-wire system of the new SL will be standard for the new CLK range and engine offerings will be identical to the Coupé.
