I'm sure they set the standard for good service, support and warranty. I've heard that quite a bit. They are very innovative and do have the reputation for good quality and design.
One of the appliance lines was coming out with a pure white type finish that was described as "Apple-look-a-like". Might have been Whirlpool. I think they were offering something different now that Stainless Steel is so saturated in the market.

I've heard Lenovo does a good job with quality and support/warranty etc... I guess if your brand signifies quality and trust, the decision comes down to the platform one prefers or is used to.
I believe Apple ties you to a lot of proprietary limitations or products although I'm sure it's not worded or marketed that way. It's just smart business for them.

I'm excited when I can find a cord or charger for an i-phone that isn't $48 now that there are knock-off items out there at reasonable prices ... lol

Yea I saw those appliances. I like the finish, tho not my style (too modern!) stainless is becoming wayyy too boring but I guess you could say the same for granite tops and wood floors.

Idk about Lenovo.

Apple products work well together. You can sync content from multiple devises so you don't need to move photos taken on your iPhone, say, over to your ipad. I don't think that locks someone in to apple though, as it's a convenience if you have multiple apple devices but not a penalty for not being exclusive to apple. If that makes sense.

Agreed... Apple has done their homework for a long long time. No one can match them tit for tat on many features and conveniences so those attributes put them above the others on the playing field.

I hope for the sake of legacy if nothing else, Apple stays the course in the future. It would be sad to see them have a failure or two but I suppose the longer anyone is at it, the more challenging it can become.

I wonder how long some of the non-fans have been waiting for a slip-up? Might be fun to research if I didn't have so many paper towels and water spills to clean up !! :D

I'm not an Apple person (well I had Apple stuff in college, but that was the early 90's) but my mom is. She piggy backs a WiFi off of my cable at home when she visits. She was having some issues with it a ways back and the "help" she got from the local Apple store just pissed me off.

They would just say, well it should work. Well mofos it doesn't what you gonna do with your product to get your product to work?

My son was big on Apple and had a few nice computers over the years. This last time, he went with Lenovo on a LT. I think he still has an ipad, maybe not but def the iphone.

My wife got talked into the iphone by him and overall is happy but she gets a lot of failed mess alerts for texting. If I understand correctly, my son says iphones have their own system that can substitute for using a data plan and it saves data use. However, he claims it drops out quite a bit more than the norm system most of us use. I guess it's beneficial on one hand but not as reliable on the other. Maybe it has to do with areas or something. It's always iphone to iphone comm.

Right. If you have data service, iMessages (texts between 2 iPhones) will run across your data instead of SMS). It allows for things like the read receipt and the "..." Typing notification. She can turn off iMessage so all texts are sent as true texts if she wants. The issue she's having has to do with poor data service, not the phones software.

Okay,, thanks.
I've heard of some that had/have issues (maybe this problem or some other issue) and Verizon says "it's the phone" and kind of bows away from helping. Maybe in some cases that is true though.

By now, having lived with cell phones since 1987, I have very little tolerance for missed calls, dropped calls or lost messages. I had very few problems 22 - 24 years ago when the cell towers just followed a few main highways. Of course, expectations were in line with reality.
I'm glad my choices thus far have not failed me to any problematic degree.

On the whole of it, with all the info and data streaming/transmission these days, some minuscule loss or failure would not even show up on the radar so that bar has raised beyond compare in that respect. :D

If her software is up to date, it's the service not the phone. I have experienced some issues with iMessage when using early (buggy) software updates but it's been very good for a while.

I learned not to believe anything VZW says a lonnng time ago.
