My '09 G37S sedan displays code P0524. Dealer states rear timing cover has internal leak. Since i have 79K miles, Infiniti consumer affairs states they will not cover the repair. A $2800 repair. i am going to let my family mechanic replace it for me [hopefully cheaper]. Any advice from anyone who has had this repair or any tricks I could warn my mechanic about? Thanks

Looks like the gasket is usually the cause. Seems these are the common gaskets that are replaced.

Yep, just had this work done. Due to the intense labor involved, I'd suggest doing the timing chain and water pump since you're so close to 100k miles, anyway. Unless you aren't concerned about all the work to pull it back out again.
