Pedals?

What's the deal with these free pedals? Will they fit on the G? Anyone got any pics of them installed?

Infiniti had some pre-production pics of the car with aluminum pedals. They decided not to include them to save costs. I am trying to find those pics, so if anyone has them, feel free to link them in this thread.

The free give-away is just that... FREE. Who ever has the most posts will get 'em. Hopefully next month we'll put together another cool contest with the help of some of our partners. Oh, and yes, they'll fit the G [:)]

Sounds cool. I'd like to see how they look first, but you can't beat free [:D]
Save costs?? Aren't they only 70 bucks?? How much could they possibly cost to manufacture??? Oh well, Im glad they spent the money elsewhere!1
I guess [:)] I was REALLy surprised the car didn't come with them. I think it's a very nice touch.

$70 on the aftermarket which means they probably cost a dealer something like $10. However, if you multiply that by every car that leaves the factory, that's a pretty serious amount of money.

thats a very valid point, but couldn't they just add $10 or whatever the cost to them, to the price of the car?

I'm sure they could, but would it bring them any benefit? Look at it by the numbers. The car costs, say, $37k fully loaded. So that's an increase in price of about .03%. Do you think it would result in an increase of sales by .03%?

That would be required to justify it in my mind, were I in charge (and not building a car the way I want to simply because I could...).
it should at least be an option (unless it already is, forgive me) dontcha think?

I'm just guessing at their thought process.

Most luxury cars tend to avoid lots of options. Instead you get large, expensive packages because they know people wouldn't buy half the crap otherwise. Customers in this price range will pay the extra money for the extra features to get that one feature they want.

The noteable exception being Mercedes.
My dealer has said that Alum Pedals will be avialable for the G35C soon, if not already. The Z pedals ( gas)requires an additional adapter or rigging it with tape. Best to wait for the G35 version.
The only thing the Z pedals need are the bushings which you can order through Nissan, or just rig up on your own. It's not hard at all, and I'll get some pics up shortly.

Hey All,

Does anyone know the trick to put on the Aluminum Accelerator Pedal on the G35 Coupe? The dealer mentioned something to me about cutting of a piece of plastic...[dunno]

Dealers are full of idiots.

If you pull off the plastic pedal, you'll see what they're talking about. The pedal is attached at two points. The first is a loop that slips over the lower control bar on the harness and the second is a clip that wraps around the higher part of the bar. They are suggesting you cut off the clip which is molded into the plastic and attach it to the metal pedal because they're too stupid to identify the correct part in their system. You'll also need the bushing to make the loop on the metal pedal hold snuggly to the arm. The pertinent parts are:

clip is a 18014-AB000
bushing is a 18014-8H601

I received the same stupidity from my dealer but luckily the Grubbs guys at FreshAlloy are a little less idiotic.

I got my set of drilled aluminum pedals for my 6MT coupe a few days ago. Installed them yesterday. They're really nice, and there is no modifications necessary. Mine came with the necessary clip/bushing. Just order them from Grubbs at http://www.infinitiwholesaleparts.com/en_US/f_MiscPage_1.chtml
If you order theirs, then you won't need to do any modding to any of the pedals. What they send you is simply plug and play. The pedals are Genuine Nissan parts, direct replacements. here are some pics of mine before and after:

This is the guide i used to install them:

the clutch/brake pedals are a little tricky to get on because the rubber is so touch and doesn't want to be stretched over the metal plate. Other than that, the install was a breeze.
