eww

have you owned the car since it was brand new? do u know if the hoods ever been repainted?
the paint on the g's is soft but I can't remember ever hearing about paint bubbles. Sounds like your hood might have had a respray....
Probably re painted. There are a lot of cases where the car has been repaired and the consumer is convinenently not told about it, I read one story about a guy who bought a new G35 and they had fixed the fender I think. If you take it to a body shop I'm sure they'll be able to tell you if it has been infact been repainted.

yah i have heard a couple times of fluids (esp battery acid) dripping from the top car on a vehicle transfer trailer to the one below... the dealer repaints it and sells it as new.

to tell if the hood has been repainted, run your finger along the edge of the hood down by the windshield wipers. if it is rough at all, it has been repainted. it should be as smooth as any other painted surface.
it feels kind of rough idk...like paper instead of the top of the hood
Take it to the dealer and give them hell. At the very least they should repaint it or replace the hood. ******* schisters...
naw it should be really smooth. compare how it feels to other edges of the car (trunk, doors etc)

that sort of thing happens ALLLLL the time. there's slight damage to a car, dealers repair it, and never tell you anything about it.

strange thing is, why would they use cheap paint? were you the first owner, noob?
you got any pix noob?

It doesn't have to be cheap paint. It could be a poor prep job. Oil from a fingerprint, any type of grease, or dust that wasn't removed before the paint was applied can cause bubbles like that. You can use the most expensive paint out there but if you don't prep correctly you are just wasting your time.

..........yep
Yeah, I had bubble in the hood of the 2003 DG G I just bought and I checked to see if it had been repainted and it surely had been. I made the dealer replace the hood for free.

OMG, I think that's what's wrong with my roof!!! I have a circular spot about the size of a baseball on the black paint that has faded almost white (looks oxidized), and the surface feels less smoth than the surrounding paint. This spot is on the right side about halfway between the back of the sunroof and the start of the rear windshield. It is directly down from where my battery sits under the hood. It has slowly gotten worse over the last 2 years. I have a theory that when my car was originally delivered to the dealer, it was one of the cars on the bottom, and there was a car above it staggered that may have had a leaking battery...the dealer may have wiped up the liquid (batter acid) but may have not neutralized it first.
Question, how do you get the dealer to pay for something like this? I have already taken it in to both the dealer and my auto detailer, and neither one knew what it was.

Its fine, i was hesitant to scrape it off because it felt like i was actually taking off the paint...but i just sprayed a little water on it and it was some gummy stuff. No bubbles.
not sure, looked exactly like a paint bubble though
next time wear a rubber before nailing some chic on your hood ;)
