The Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG has picked up two new major awards, this time from the US. It beat eight contenders to be named "Car of the year 2003" by the "Robb Report" magazine, while the television motoring magazine "Motor Week" voted it "Best Dream Machine". The "Robb Report", the luxury lifestyle magazine which is read all over the world, praised the SL 55 AMG as a "rare, achingly beautiful car that makes every journey a combination of fun and satisfaction."

The jurors also noted that its supercharged AMG eight-cylinder engine delivering 368 kW/500 hp and 700 Newton metres of torque, "gives you all its epic power at any speed, in any gear". In summing up they described the car as "The ultimate combi-nation of style and performance."
The SL 55 AMG has also received the "Best Dream Machine" award from the US motoring programme "Motor Week". The leading TV motoring show voted the roadster into first place ahead of numerous competitor models.

The SL 55 AMG is setting new standards in the high-performance roadster segment. With its unique engineering, its powerful AMG V8 supercharged engine, its electrohydraulic Sensotronic Brake Control (SBCTM), its Active Body Control (ABC) and its vario-roof, the SL 55 AMG has already been bought by 6,000 customers worldwide since its launch at the beginning of 2002.

In addition to these two recent awards, the SL-Class has picked up many other international accolades, including:

· "Most environment-friendly car" (Institut Öko-Trend, Germany, 2002)
· "Most exciting car of the year" (News, Austria, 2001)
· "Best sports car" (Klaxon, Russia, 2002)
