Land Rover will indeed grab its powertrains for future product from parent company Ford, but don#146;t look for the engines to wear a blue oval. While reports have placed a 4.0-liter Explorer engine in the next-generation Discovery and the next-gen F-150 V8 in future Land Rovers, Land Rover/Jaguar officials learned from the Mondeo/X-Type experience that the U.S. market doesn#146;t stomach engine swaps between everyday Ford drivers and Premier Automotive Group vehicles.

But powertrain love-ins aren#146;t scratched altogether. Range Rover Sport, due in #146;04, gets a Jaguar supercharged V8 and possibly a Jaguar-tuned 250-hp 3.2-liter V6, while the 2005 Discovery could get a 300-hp Jaguar 4.2-liter V8.
