Infiniti announced pricing for its all-new Infiniti G35 Sports Sedan today, and we're pleased to report Nissan's luxury division has held the line on price for some models and even reduced it in some cases. The base model with a five-speed automatic will keep the 2006 model's MSRP of $31,450, while the most popular model, the G35 Journey, will receive a price cut of $700 to $31,900. The remaining models include the G35x AWD that starts at $33,950, the G35 Sport 6MT with a six-speed manual that starts at $32,250, and the G35 Sport with a five-speed automatic and magnesium paddle shifters that starts at $33,450.

Considering how much the Infiniti G35 sedan has improved over its predecessor, the same-or-lower pricing makes the sports sedan an even more attractive bargain than it was before. The car features Nissan's next generation VQ V6, a superlative powerplant that now produces 306 horsepower and 268 ft-lbs. of torque. That alone is worth the cost of admission, but the new G35 is built on a new platform that's longer and wider than the previous model, which allows for a larger interior. Infiniti spent some serious time redoing the G35's cabin, as the car's dash design was never one of its strong points. Some of the more interesting options on the new model include an 18-inch performance wheel and tire package, an Infiniti Navigation package with live traffic updates from XM and a 9.6GB hard drive for music. The exterior design has also evolved into a more organic shape with sweeping lines and sinewy curves.

The G35 has always had the BMW 3-Series in its cross hairs, and from what we've heard the new models takes a different approach to beating the bimmer than did the old one. The new G35 is larger and more practically useful now, which has sacrificed a bit of its athletic handing. The 3-Series, of course, is the banner car for athletic sports sedans, but its price has crept ever upward and BMW doesn't seem interested in offering more rear legroom at the cost of a slower slalom speed. Though the BMW 328i does start at $32,400, its less powerful 230-hp 3.0-liter in-line six means its not really the right contender for the new G35. The 335i sedan with its twin-turbo in-line six producing 300 hp is more of a match, but that car starts at $38,700. It seems that Infiniti is banking on the G35's value being the sedan's biggest selling point, and with the prices announced today it just might be right.

About the 2007 G35 Sedan
The 2007 G35 Sedan receives an enhanced version of the award-winning VQ V6 engine series. Now entering its fourth generation, the new VQ35 3.5-liter V6 boasts a redesign of approximately 80% of its major parts. It now produces 306 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. The new engine tuning strategy provides "Acceleration Swell," which produces a more refined balance of quick acceleration that builds continuously to the engine's horsepower peak for enhanced performance driving pleasure.

The 2007 G35 is built on an enhanced second-generation FM (Front Mid-ship) platform that positions the engine behind the front axle, allowing for an optimum front-to-rear weight balance that, along with the G's long wheelbase and wider front and rear track, adds to its overall handling stability. The first-ever Infiniti 4-Wheel Active Steer system – optional on G35 Sport and G35 Sport 6MT – combines Infiniti's Rear Active Steer with an all-new front active steer system which can vary the steering ratio based on vehicle dynamics.

The 2007 G35 Sedan's interior and exterior styling has evolved, combining modern warmth and traditional Japanese design cues to distinguish the G's luxury and performance attributes. The exterior is highlighted by the G's long, wave-like hood, pushed back A-pillars and athletic stance.

The interior is designed to create a harmony between its dedicated driver's cockpit and comfortable passenger space. The cabin features an available audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels by Bose® Premium Audio System. Developed in conjunction with Bose, the system achieves its superior sound balance by placing 10-inch woofers in each of the front doors and incorporating double oversampling 24-bit 96Khz Burr Brownâ Digital-to-analog Converters. Sport models now feature front seat thigh extensions and power-adjustable torso and thigh bolsters for ultimate driver comfort and support.

The 2007 G35 Sedan remains a showcase for Infiniti's technology and engineering leadership with the available advanced technologies that include RearView Monitor, touch-screen, Infiniti Navigation System with voice recognition, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) with Preview Braking, Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), Infiniti's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system - ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) - and 4-Wheel Active Steer. Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition comes standard on all 2007 G35 Sedan models.
