You need to have the airbag system scanned to see what the problem is. It could be a bad seat belt pre-tensioner or an unplugged air bag or sensor. Regardless, the air bag light being on may cause the air bag system to be completely inoperable. It's not safe.
well the light was on before when the airbags were deployed.
but how can i reset it noww that i changed the airbags.
there shouldnt be any faults since i changed everything.
thanks
If the light is on, there is a fault, which was there before the collision. I had my sustem checked when the SRS light was on and it was a bad seatbel sensor. It's not just the airbags that can trip the warning light. You may still have an SRS warranty even if you no longer have the standard warranty.
The SRS system is warrantied up to 70K. Have the dealer look at it for you. It may be a bad module. (happened to me before)
i need to re-program the main module to erase the crash data. i changed the 2 airbags and their modules, but there is crash data on the main module that has to be erased.

OH MY GOD... it's that damn event data recorder, see I told you guys!

Who told you that?

The dealer will scan the codes and tell you the problem in 2 seconds.
Air Bag

Here's the process to reset the air bag light (copied from somewhere else on the forum)... I tried it and it works.

If you have the airbag light, it will show steady for a few seconds (the manual says 7 secs) after you turn the key from off to on (but not start) and then start to flash. Here is how to reset it:

1. Turn the key from off to on.

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

If it does not work the first time, just repeat the steps again.

Go see your dealer, no sense in putting you and others in harms way to save a buck. The light is on for a reason.

Whew, Thanks swatpc and 6MT. My SRS light came on this morning and all day I was sweating it as to why it was on and how much I was dreading spending possibly hundreds on fixing it (4k out of warranty). I first tried resetting it through obdII, no luck, then i was under the dash checking plugs and stuff then I disconnected the battery. No luck, So I googled "G35 airbag light is on" and it found this thread. It worked! Shoulda checked 6MT first lol. Now I just hope it doesn't come back on.
The SRS module (air bag computer) either needs to be replaced or re-programed, once the airbags are deployed the air bag light will remain on (solid no flash) at all times, if there was a fault in the srs system the module would flash the air bag light when key is in the open position and possibly have codes stored that can be cleared by a dealer or your self using the self diag mode,Dealer cannot clear a hard code such as when air bags are deployed,
good place to get it re-programed,

Gturdy5 is right, i work at a body shop and the module has to be replaced after an accident, dont try to reprogram it because in the slim chance it works, it might not activate the airbags next time your in an accident. every car we get in the shop with bags blown have to have the module replaced
I have a 2003 G35 6MT - I put in a new iPhone Adapter (into Stereo) and now the Airbag light flashes and refuses to go off, even after trying all the reset steps on this thread, and slightly different steps on other threads (More wait between off/on, less wait etc).

But the light remains flashing.

Here are the steps to what I did:
1. Disconnect the battery
2. Took down the glove box
3. Disconnected all 3 connections on glove box
4. Noticed that one of them (I think the big one was the Airbag one) had a clip that could be detached from the Glove Compartment section, so unclipped that and plugged the connection back together.
5. Took out all other panels required to access Stereo.
6. Plugged in the iPod adapter (In case you were wondering its the NA15-NIS) to stereo.
7. Re-connected the Battery
8. Tested the adapter with my iPhone
9. Re-connected everything, and put all the panels back in place.
10. Started Car - Airbag light starts to flash (yeh, after the 6-7 secs)
11. Opened Laptop and started re-searching forums on reset procedude.
12. Disconnected battery for 5 seconds (negative terminal) - Light continued to flash.
13. Next up: Found a couple of different threads, all usually revolving around Inginition On/Off repeated 3-4 times when Airbag light goes out, but before it starts to flash.

No luck - Any advice would be appreciated.

Update: As it turns out, I had left the connector disconnected !!! yeah, I know, Idiot.

Opened it up yesterday night, discovered it was unplugged, clicked it into place. Be advised, that its spring loaded so needs a firm click.
Followed the 4 time on/off procedure with ignition, and the light no longer flashes.

NOTE: There is a recall for 03-07 G35s for a passenger seat air bag sensor which could also trigger the light if the seat is moved all the way back.
Call any Infiniti dealer with your VIN, they will confirm if your car is part of the recall or not and will fix the issue and re-set the airbag light (If it was on) for free.
you're not the first person to have a problem due to something that was not reconnected.

that's why normally someone asks if you reconnected everything.

glad you figured it out.
thanks for the update. we hope to continue to see you around here.
