Wow cwise...I need to get me one as well since I drive so much highway. Is it hard to put on at all? How long does it take you. I travel at least every other weekend out of town...

What their website?

The clear bras are great. Have to be real careful about wax buildup, and dirt tends to stick to it a little differently, so it becomes more visible. But the pros far outway the cons!

I emailed Danny about our site. Hopefully he'll start posting here as his knowledge is invaluable [8D]

That's a good idea. I don't like the look of the leather bra on a car all the time. Although a black bra would look good on the black obsidian.
I had a Clear Bra put on my car the day after I bought it. It covers the whole hood in one piece, plus the front bumper, front quarter-panels, the headlights and the a-bars (part over doors). What sold me on my installation is that it was "seamless." I do alot of highway driving and cringe every time I see pebbles heading my way. I am quite happy with how the Clear Bra has performed (I have 4,000 miles on my car already).

The one drawback is that it makes the paint look "wavy." It is definitely noticable when you are looking closely at the car, but not so at night or from more than a few feet away. I suspect that the wavy effect is magnified because my car is black (silver or white should show it less).

Bottom line is, it protects my paint from permanent damage. I can live with a little waviness for that. Also, if/when I am ready to sell (upgrade to the convertible in '05??), I can have it taken off with no residual. Hope that helped a bit

So Darren it covers all the hood and all the way up to the doors? Damn thats alot of coverage...hehe! I too do alot of highway driving as I have had my ride for 8 months now and have 26K miles on it already...I think I am getting the regular bra and only use it for when I go out of town...

Yeah - it was a full day job with 2 installers. Cost $1100 bucks, but I think well worth it. The installation was NOT something I would have attempted on my own. They did not use a pre-cut kit. It was all custom from big sheets, trimmed to fit as the put it on the car. Good luck avoiding those flying rocks!!

I knwo but that clear bra better be seemless and tighter than a virgin...not to be able to see waves and stuff...cuaz whats the point of having the G and notbeing alt to show its beauty if you are gonna have waves all over the hood...but i guess have chips destroys its beauty as well...i guess there is no way around it..

You got the problem FlaCo. For me, a choice between two evils.[}:)] I had a black Accord Coupe before this car and my poor hood looked polka-dotted! I had a regular bra, but it did nothing for the hood. At 65 miles an hour passing (F'ing) log trucks, etc, the paint has no chance.

I can tell you I ran with some good company. I looked at the workorders where I got it done, and the last 4 cars they had done were Boxsters (2), SL500 and M3.

no problem here at least not yet...but can you tell the thing...i mean is this "clear hood cover tight enough to be seamless...?

How about the car wash how does that work?

Thx Again...=)

it definitely has no seams. They had a "partial" package that would have run a seam across the hood (like a regular bra would), but I did not want that. As I said, that only means the rocks chip higher up on the hood. What they did was, take a BIG sheet of this 12mil thickness (really!)film and set it out on the hood (or other piece). They then use exacto knife to trace the body, leaving an overlap to tuck under the panel. I think that they have a website -- clearbra.net. The company is out of Salt Lake City, but has franchises throughout western states. Car washing, etc remains exactly the same. The clear bra picks up little scratches just like paint would, but you can buff them out.

I would not give up on the clear bra concept. Run a computer search for places in Florida. Better yet, call the Mercedes, BMW, Porsche dealers in your area and ask if they have heard of installers. I got the idea from a buddy (his car is in my pics)who saw the product at a BMW club meeting.

Be VERY careful with Bras. They often do more damage than they prevent. When they get wet, the leather tightens up. Additionally, they can bake onto the car and when you try to take it off, you'll lose half your paint.
That most be some crappy leather bra ...

hmmm, is that just here in hell? (err AZ) Also, did this happen to you personally, if so what kidn of bra was it? Then we know who to stay away from.

That's simply a common complaint I've read online with few specifics.

AND AZ ISN'T HELL. Any place that's 75 degrees nine months out of the year can't be hell.
I don't know what you're doing nine months out of the year, but it certainly isnt 75 nine months out of the year. 90 maybe, but not 75. No way. And anyplace that gets and averege of less than a quarter of an inch of rain a year is hell. Don't get me wrong, I love this city, everything about it. Except the lack of rain and excessive amounts of heat. Heck, only have winter for like one week a year. (not necessarily a bad thing) but hey I want a LITTLE cold weather.
