Acura, Honda's luxury division, may expand its SUV lineup, the Dow Jones Newswires reports, citing Tom Elliott, an executive vice president of Honda's U.S. sales unit.
"One of the areas we would look at for Acura is maybe another SUV," Elliott said.
Acura has been successfully selling a midsize SUV called the MDX since 2000, but it's the only SUV in its lineup. The additional vehicle, Elliott said, would have to be smaller than the MDX.
"For the lack of a better term," Elliott said, he sees "an entry-level Acura SUV that could appeal to younger, more performance-oriented consumers."
Even through the vehicle would look like an SUV, Elliott said it would be "more sporty and stylish." No debut date for such a vehicle was revealed.
