The Infiniti Lineup - Charting the Changes [July 20, 06]Infiniti continues to set the bar in the sport luxury segment, with a strong selling lineup of award-winning vehicles, including two J.D. Power and Associates “most appealing” awards. The 2006 model year saw the introduction of the all-new Infiniti M sedan, and now 2007 marks the first redesign of the G35 Sedan. The revised 2007 G35 Sedan, which goes on sale in November 2006, features a dramatic new exterior design and a refined interior with unique features. Available advanced technology systems include RearView Monitor, a touch screen navigation system with available real-time traffic information and the audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose® high-fidelity audio system. Powering the latest G35 is an upgraded version of the award-winning VQ-series 3.5-liter DOHC V6, rated at 306 horsepower. The standard V6 is mated to a choice of a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission on the G35 6MT model or a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and Downshift Rev Matching. The G35 Journey model equipped with the optional Sport Appearance Package includes magnesium paddle shifters. The 2007 G35 is also offered with Infiniti’s “intelligent” all-wheel drive system. The overall Infiniti lineup continues to evolve - the award-winning M sedan receives enhancements for 2007 including new 18-inch wheels, 10-way adjustable front passenger seat and new option packages; the Infiniti FX receives minor changes including pre-wiring for an iPod, FX45 receives power-folding sideview mirrors; G35 Coupe receives standard Intelligent Key and auto on/off headlights; and the QX56 features a new exterior color and revised engine tuning for the 5.6-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 engine for increased horsepower and torque. Following is an overview of the Infiniti Division products for the 2007 model year: 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan The first major redesign of Infiniti’s award-winning sports sedan was unveiled at the 2006 New York International Auto Show. The new G35 sedan was designed to meet the high expectations of Infiniti owners, who have embraced the original G35 and seek a continuation of its unique combination of vibrant design, exhilarating performance and advanced technology. The 2007 G35 sedan exceeds these expectations, with an evolution of the platform, interior and exterior style, and the next generation of the award-winning VQ-series V6. The redesigned interior combines modern warmth and Japanese design cues, and technologically the G35 sets the bar for features available in its class, including available touchscreen navigation system with real-time traffic information and audiophile premium audio system that brings studio quality sound to the road. The G35 sedan also offers customers the choice of a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission, rear- or all-wheel drive, and option packages covering the spectrum of style, on-road and in-cabin performance. Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose® Delivers Unprecedented Sound [July 13, 06]- Infiniti/Bose Collaboration Yields a New Standard for Stereo Performance In an Automobile -
At its inception in 1989, Infiniti rocked the automotive world with ahead-of-its time engineering, offering buyers unprecedented luxury sedans boasting decidedly sports car souls. In similar fashion, Bose Corporation achieved worldwide acclaim over four decades ago by setting a new industry standard for lifelike sound reproduction. Now, the engineers at Infiniti and Bose have combined their expertise and passions to craft a custom-engineered sound system that brings listeners closer to the power and emotion of a live performance, through a vehicle designed to bring drivers closer to the power and emotion of driving – available in the new Infiniti G sedan. This new system brings to life Infiniti’s vision of offering discerning owners a “Studio on Wheels”. The Studio on Wheels\' canvas, the all-new Infiniti G Sedan, is the second generation of Infiniti’s groundbreaking sports sedan. First introduced in 2002 as an alternative to the existing “machine-like” vehicles in class, everything about the new 2007 G is designed to create a more powerful driving sensation -- from its rewarding performance and sophisticated exterior, to its intuitive technology and finely crafted interior experience, highlighted by the enveloping power of the Studio on Wheels sound system. “From the beginning of the G’s development, the sound system was considered a core element of the vehicle’s DNA, rather than simply a feature or an option” said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager of Infiniti. “Our goal was to bring Infiniti G owners a signature listening experience that approached that of high-end home systems -- and working with Bose, we feel we’ve achieved our vision with the Studio on Wheels.”
The Vision “The sound of the Studio on Wheels system could only have been produced with the high level of collaboration that Infiniti was willing to engage in with Bose during the development of the sound system,” said Michael Rosen, executive director of engineering and product strategy, Bose Corporation. “By primarily focusing on the quality of the listening experience -- rather than a list of features and specifications -- Infiniti and Bose have been able to introduce a new standard for audio performance in an automobile.” Based on thousands of acoustic measurements taken of the G’s interior, Bose engineers proposed mounting 10 speakers throughout the cabin, including three 10-inch Nd® woofers. Infiniti responded by redesigning the front doors around the audio components, and adding dampening material to reduce unwanted vibrations. As a result, the system provides crisp musical detail, while also delivering impactful low notes you can actually feel.
The System To assure outstanding dynamic range with low distortion, the internal pre-amp incorporates Burr Brown® ultra low noise op-amps and other instrument grade components. Studio on Wheels features 10 high-performance Bose neodymium speakers powered by a Bose eight channel amplifier which incorporates the company’s proprietary signal processing technology, specifically tuned for the G35 to deliver full lifelike sounds that fill every inch of the G’s interior. The system delivers its high-range sound from two 1-inch neodymium tweeters located in each side mirror patch. Mid/high-range sound comes from three 3-inch neodymium speakers, one in each front door and one in the instrument panel. Low end sound is distributed throughout the cabin, with a 10-inch woofer in each front door plus a third on the rear deck powered by a dedicated two-state-modulation switching amplifier. The 6.5-inch, full-range neodymium speaker in each rear door rounds out a cohesive, balanced sound that seems to extend beyond the confines of the cabin. Source: Nissan Infiniti News Bureau

NEW YORK, March 13, 2006—Leading brand strategy and design consulting firm Lippincott Mercer has been awarded first place in the International Hard Lines category in the 2005 Chain Store Age Retail Store of the Year design competition. The award, which was announced in the February 2006 issue of Chain Store Age magazine, applauds the firm’s luxurious prototype design for Infiniti in Korea. In January 2006, the same environment was singled out for an “Innovative Exterior Design” award in the 2005 Institute of Store Planners/Visual Merchandising + Store Design International Store Design Competition. “The Infiniti dealership design is an outstanding example of a brand positioning that has been brought to life,” said Ken Roberts, chairman and chief executive officer of Lippincott Mercer. “We are honored to accept this award.” Located in Seoul, the dealership represents Infiniti’s entry into the Korean market and is part of Nissan Motor Company’s plan for the global expansion of their luxury brand. The customer-centric environment features a generous, dignified first floor reception area similar to the lobby of a luxury hotel, a mezzanine level lounge for consulting and hospitality and a two-story gallery showroom on the fifth and sixth floors to dramatically display new Infiniti vehicles against the backdrop of Seoul’s fast growing skyline. This award-winning design is part of a comprehensive Infiniti Retail Environment Design Initiative (IREDI) that establishes a unique, new exterior/interior look and signage for Infiniti dealers in the United States and other global markets. The concept features forms that are energetic and modern with an accent on natural materials and open lighting. A key aspect of the IREDI program is its “flexibility within a framework,” which takes into consideration the various situations faced by Infiniti retailers regarding differences in geographies, business practices, cultures and local or international governments. Dealers are able to choose from a variety of materials, furnishings and artwork, yet the environments still have a consistent brand image and execution at the retail level. The Lippincott Mercer team responsible for the Infiniti dealership design includes Ken Roberts, Peter Dixon, Rodney Abbot, Fabian Diaz, Richard Chun, Ryan Kovalak, Soenghie Lee and Teruo Sakata. The Chain Store Age competition is open to any design firm or retail design team with stores opened within the specified contest period. The judges in this year’s competition were George Holz, director, design and construction, Red Door Spa Holdings; Karen Meskey-Wilson, VP and director, store design and merchandising standards, J.C.
