Infiniti continues to set the bar in the sport luxury segment, with a strong selling lineup of award-winning vehicles, including two J.D. Power and Associates “most appealing” awards. The 2006 model year saw the introduction of the all-new Infiniti M sedan, and now 2007 marks the first redesign of the G35 Sedan.

The revised 2007 G35 Sedan, which goes on sale in November 2006, features a dramatic new exterior design and a refined interior with unique features. Available advanced technology systems include RearView Monitor, a touch screen navigation system with available real-time traffic information and the audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose® high-fidelity audio system. Powering the latest G35 is an upgraded version of the award-winning VQ-series 3.5-liter DOHC V6, rated at 306 horsepower. The G35 Journey model equipped with the optional Sport Appearance Package includes magnesium paddle shifters. The 2007 G35 is also offered with Infiniti’s “intelligent” all-wheel drive system.

The overall Infiniti lineup continues to evolve - the award-winning M sedan receives enhancements for 2007 including new 18-inch wheels, 10-way adjustable front passenger seat and new option packages; the Infiniti FX receives minor changes including pre-wiring for an iPod, FX45 receives power-folding sideview mirrors; G35 Coupe receives standard Intelligent Key and auto on/off headlights; and the QX56 features a new exterior color and revised engine tuning for the 5.6-liter DOHC 32-valve V8 engine for increased horsepower and torque.

Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose® Delivers Unprecedented Sound [July 13, 06]

- Infiniti/Bose Collaboration Yields a New Standard for Stereo Performance In an Automobile -

At its inception in 1989, Infiniti rocked the automotive world with ahead-of-its time engineering, offering buyers unprecedented luxury sedans boasting decidedly sports car souls. In similar fashion, Bose Corporation achieved worldwide acclaim over four decades ago by setting a new industry standard for lifelike sound reproduction.

Now, the engineers at Infiniti and Bose have combined their expertise and passions to craft a custom-engineered sound system that brings listeners closer to the power and emotion of a live performance, through a vehicle designed to bring drivers closer to the power and emotion of driving – available in the new Infiniti G sedan. This new system brings to life Infiniti’s vision of offering discerning owners a “Studio on Wheels”.

The Studio on Wheels\' canvas, the all-new Infiniti G Sedan, is the second generation of Infiniti’s groundbreaking sports sedan. First introduced in 2002 as an alternative to the existing “machine-like” vehicles in class, everything about the new 2007 G is designed to create a more powerful driving sensation -- from its rewarding performance and sophisticated exterior, to its intuitive technology and finely crafted interior experience, highlighted by the enveloping power of the Studio on Wheels sound system.

“From the beginning of the G’s development, the sound system was considered a core element of the vehicle’s DNA, rather than simply a feature or an option” said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager of Infiniti. “Our goal was to bring Infiniti G owners a signature listening experience that approached that of high-end home systems -- and working with Bose, we feel we’ve achieved our vision with the Studio on Wheels.”

The Vision
Infiniti had a unique vision for the sound system available in the G35. Rejecting constraints and compromises, they turned to Bose to help them design a Studio on Wheels.

“The sound of the Studio on Wheels system could only have been produced with the high level of collaboration that Infiniti was willing to engage in with Bose during the development of the sound system,” said Michael Rosen, executive director of engineering and product strategy, Bose Corporation. “By primarily focusing on the quality of the listening experience -- rather than a list of features and specifications -- Infiniti and Bose have been able to introduce a new standard for audio performance in an automobile.”

Based on thousands of acoustic measurements taken of the G’s interior, Bose engineers proposed mounting 10 speakers throughout the cabin, including three 10-inch Nd® woofers. Infiniti responded by redesigning the front doors around the audio components, and adding dampening material to reduce unwanted vibrations. As a result, the system provides crisp musical detail, while also delivering impactful low notes you can actually feel.

The System
Studio on Wheels provides exceptional audio quality by combining a 3-way front door speaker system that uses 10-inch woofers with an audiophile quality head unit incorporating a 24-bit Burr Brown® digital audio converter.

To assure outstanding dynamic range with low distortion, the internal pre-amp incorporates Burr Brown® ultra low noise op-amps and other instrument grade components.

Studio on Wheels features 10 high-performance Bose neodymium speakers powered by a Bose eight channel amplifier which incorporates the company’s proprietary signal processing technology, specifically tuned for the G35 to deliver full lifelike sounds that fill every inch of the G’s interior.

The system delivers its high-range sound from two 1-inch neodymium tweeters located in each side mirror patch. Mid/high-range sound comes from three 3-inch neodymium speakers, one in each front door and one in the instrument panel. Low end sound is distributed throughout the cabin, with a 10-inch woofer in each front door plus a third on the rear deck powered by a dedicated two-state-modulation switching amplifier. The 6.5-inch, full-range neodymium speaker in each rear door rounds out a cohesive, balanced sound that seems to extend beyond the confines of the cabin.

Infiniti Wins Retail Design Award [Mar. 13, 06]

NEW YORK, March 13, 2006—Leading brand strategy and design consulting firm Lippincott Mercer has been awarded first place in the International Hard Lines category in the 2005 Chain Store Age Retail Store of the Year design competition.  The award, which was announced in the February 2006 issue of Chain Store Age magazine, applauds the firm’s luxurious prototype design for Infiniti in Korea.  In January 2006, the same environment was singled out for an “Innovative Exterior Design” award in the 2005 Institute of Store Planners/Visual Merchandising + Store Design International Store Design Competition.

“The Infiniti dealership design is an outstanding example of a brand positioning that has been brought to life,” said Ken Roberts, chairman and chief executive officer of Lippincott Mercer.  “We are honored to accept this award.”

Located in Seoul, the dealership represents Infiniti’s entry into the Korean market and is part of Nissan Motor Company’s plan for the global expansion of their luxury brand.  The customer-centric environment features a generous, dignified first floor reception area similar to the lobby of a luxury hotel, a mezzanine level lounge for consulting and hospitality and a two-story gallery showroom on the fifth and sixth floors to dramatically display new Infiniti vehicles against the backdrop of Seoul’s fast growing skyline.

This award-winning design is part of a comprehensive Infiniti Retail Environment Design Initiative (IREDI) that establishes a unique, new exterior/interior look and signage for Infiniti dealers in the United States and other global markets.  The concept features forms that are energetic and modern with an accent on natural materials and open lighting.  A key aspect of the IREDI program is its “flexibility within a framework,” which takes into consideration the various situations faced by Infiniti retailers regarding differences in geographies, business practices, cultures and local or international governments.  Dealers are able to choose from a variety of materials, furnishings and artwork, yet the environments still have a consistent brand image and execution at the retail level.

The Lippincott Mercer team responsible for the Infiniti dealership design includes Ken Roberts, Peter Dixon, Rodney Abbot, Fabian Diaz, Richard Chun, Ryan Kovalak, Soenghie Lee and Teruo Sakata.

The Chain Store Age competition is open to any design firm or retail design team with stores opened within the specified contest period.  The judges in this year’s competition were George Holz, director, design and construction, Red Door Spa Holdings; Karen Meskey-Wilson, VP and director, store design and merchandising standards, J.C. Penney; Jane Rappleyea, VP design and existing-store development, Linens ‘n Things; Stacey Shorr, associate, SBLM architects and Nicole Tricarico, interior designer, Tricarico Architecture & Design.

Infiniti Receives MotorWeek Drivers Choice Award [Feb. 9, 06]

Announcement made at 2006 Chicago Auto Show

Gardena, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2006) — Today, from the 2006 Chicago Auto Show, the Infiniti M was named the “2006 Best Luxury Sedan” in MotorWeek’s Drivers’ Choice Awards.  MotorWeek will air the results of their testing on February 10th on PBS and again on February 13th on the Speed Channel.

“The Infiniti M was designed to outperform the competition in every way,” said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager of Infiniti.  “An endorsement from a team of trusted third-party experts, like the staff at MotorWeek, is exactly what Infiniti strives for when developing world-class vehicles like the M.”

This year, the 14th year of the Drivers’ Choice Awards, a team of 15 judges evaluated more than 150 cars and trucks, focusing on key features of superior performance, technology, practicality and dollar value.

“Throughout the rigorous testing, the M continued to stand out in the highly competitive field of luxury sedans,” said John Davis, host and executive producer of MotorWeek, “which includes some of best cars in the world from makers like BMW, Mercedes and Lexus.”

About the Infiniti M

The all-new Infiniti M, which went on sale in late February 2005 as a 2006 model, captures essential elements of both the Q45 luxury performance sedan and the award-winning Infiniti G35 – and takes them to a new level of engaging luxury and performance. Together with the flagship Q45 and sporty G35, the 2006 M gives Infiniti an exceptional lineup of dynamic luxury performance sedans.

The Infiniti M optimizes both luxury and sport styling to create a dynamic visual appeal. The exterior design features a low, aggressive hoodline, which flows into the anchored shoulders and contributes to the sporty, powerful silhouette. Inside, the interior is highly expressive, combining a driver-oriented cockpit with an inviting design detail.

At the heart of the Infiniti M is the high-performance power of a choice of advanced V8 or V6 engines, with the vehicles badged M45 or M35 respectively. The M45 features the 4.5-liter DOHC V8 currently used in the Infiniti Q45 and FX45. For use in the M45, it produces 335 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. The M35 is powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 producing 280 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are mated to a standard 5-speed automatic transmission with all-new short-throw performance shifter and manual shift mode with downshift rev matching. The M35 also features an available intelligent all-wheel drive system.

Advanced technology is abundant on the new M – starting with the standard Bluetooth wireless technology, an all-new Vehicle Information System with 7-inch LCD screen and easy-to-use controls, Infiniti voice recognition and Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS). M Sport models feature a new Rear Active Steer system, which helps improve vehicle handling performance by adjusting the geometry of the rear suspension according to steering input and vehicle speed. Also featured on the M is an available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system, which warns the driver of a pending, unintended lane departure.

Lipincott Mercer Wins International Design Award For Infiniti Retail Environment [Jan. 23, 06]

NEW YORK, January 23, 2006--Leading brand strategy and design consulting firm Lippincott Mercer has received the “Innovative Exterior Design” award in the 2005 Institute of Store Planners/Visual Merchandising + Store Design International Store Design Competition.  The award, which was presented this week to Lippincott creative director Peter Dixon during a ceremony at the Puck Building in New York City, honors the firm for its retail environment design prototype for the Infiniti showroom in Seoul, Korea.

“We are thrilled to be recognized for our work with Infiniti,” said Peter Dixon, creative director of Lippincott Mercer.  “The award is a tribute to the hard work, creativity and collaboration of the Lippincott team and the client.”

Located in Seoul, the new Infiniti dealership represents the brand’s entry into the Korean market and is part of Nissan Motors’ plan for the global expansion of their luxury brand. Completed in July 2005, the exterior of the customer-centric showroom is a highly visible distinctively curved storefront that prominently displays the Infiniti logo and dealer name. Designed with stone and glass, the exterior design is energetic and modern, seeming to glow from within while conveying modern luxury, a hallmark of the Infiniti brand.  Although the dealership stands at six-stories, generous ceiling heights have resulted in a height equal to that of a ten-story building.   The showroom interior features a generous, dignified first floor reception area much like the lobby of a luxury hotel, a mezzanine level lounge for consulting and hospitality and a two-story gallery showroom on the fifth and sixth floors to dramatically display new vehicles against the backdrop of Seoul’s fast growing skyline.

SL+A Korea implemented Lippincott’s Mercer’s design and managed the construction processes associated with the project.

The Lippincott Mercer team responsible for the Infiniti dealership design includes Ken Roberts, Dixon, Rodney Abbot, Fabian Diaz, Richard Chun, Ryan Kovalak, Soenghie Lee, Teruo Sakata and Alissa Tribelli.

Lippincott Mercer provides planning, design and implementation services in a number of branding disciplines, including brand strategy, brand creation, brand environments, packaging and brand management.

The ISP/VM+SD annual competition is open to any contract design firm or in-house retail design teams working on projects completed during the specified contest period.  The judging panel for the competition—which included retailers, contract designers and educators—convened in Atlanta in November.  The judges reviewed more than 200 international entries in 18 categories.

Infiniti Launches Phase II of 'Infiniti in Black' Campaign [Jan. 18, 06]

Gardena, Calif. (January 18, 2006) — On February 9, BET and Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA), will premiere a 30-minute original program entitled, “…In Black” at 9 p.m./8 p.m. central on BET.  The show highlights the five artists featured in the "Infiniti in black" campaign discussing the influence of design on art, culture and life.  “…In Black” marks the culmination of this campaign which is Infiniti’s first-ever marketing campaign designed to speak directly to African Americans.

Since the launch of “Infiniti in black”, Infiniti has showcased “modern African American innovators” — an emerging talent or artist whose vision represents the personality and attributes of a respective Infiniti model — at each phase in the campaign. The multimedia campaign includes print, out-of-home, interactive media and short online films.

“Infiniti values the African American community as an important customer.  With the ‘Infiniti in black’ campaign, we hope to showcase significant achievements the African American community has made to the arts,” said Scott Fessenden, director of Infiniti Marketing, NNA.  “The Infiniti brand represents bold personality, creative design and individuality that reflect the artistic creativity of ‘Infiniti in black’.”

Created by THE TRUE AGENCY, this original program features five African American artists talking about design without once mentioning the brand. The conversation segues into images of Infiniti's various models.  The program, moderated by former New York Times film critic Elvis Mitchell, will be backed by teaser ads, events and public-relations initiatives that begin this week and run through March.

“Its not every day the public gets to see the level of quality both in content and in form that we are presenting here on behalf of Infiniti. Our team has stretched this genre of television by fraying its edges,” said Christopher Davis, Executive Creative Director of THE TRUE AGENCY.  “We’ve pushed the format of the presentation to meet the depth of the dialogue, so that one becomes the other.”

Three in-market lifestyle events will be held prior to the premiere airing to showcase “…In Black” – at the Film & Tape Works Studio on January 18 in Chicago; at The Armory on January 25 in Philadelphia; and at Splashlight Studios on February 1 in New York.

In addition to these events, Infiniti hopes to drive consumers to a multimedia website designed to continue the story of “Infiniti in black.” By the end of the campaign, all five artistic phases and their artists will be featured along with their respective Infiniti model.  On the site, consumers can view short films of each vehicle’s featured artist discussing their vision and key influences on their work.  See www.infiniti.com/black for more information.

Infiniti Debuts Coupe Concept at 2006 North American International Auto Show [Jan. 8, 06]

DETROIT (Jan 8, 2006) – Infiniti today unveiled a dramatic new concept vehicle, the Infiniti Coupe Concept, at the 2006 North American International Auto Show.  Infiniti also showed the new 2006 FX luxury crossover SUV, which has been refined with exterior and interior enhancements and greater differentiation between the V8-powered FX45 and V6-equipped FX35 models.

The Coupe Concept continues the Infiniti tradition of merging design and performance.  It takes Infiniti’s vibrant design vocabulary, which has helped establish Infiniti as one of the most dynamic brands in the luxury market, and elevates it to the next level.

Among the Coupe Concept’s exterior design features are a full-length glass panel roof, modulated front fenders and hood, deep front spoiler and large projector headlights, polished bare metal-look paint, compact camera outside rearview mirrors, hidden door handles and large 20-inch, 9-spoke painted aluminum-alloy wheels.

The Coupe Concept interior combines a performance-inspired cockpit with a luxurious passengers’ space featuring a “double wave” instrument panel design, with large, violet-color gauge illumination and a dramatic, full-length center console.  Specially textured aluminum accents project the image of traditional Japanese “Washi” paper, providing an added sense of warmth and crispness.

“The Infiniti Coupe Concept embraces the continuous advancement of Infiniti design with a unique combination of passion, imagination and creativity,” said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager, Infiniti.

Igo also provided an update on Infiniti business issues, including the fourth straight year of sales records.  In 2005, Infiniti sold an all-time high of 136,401 units, an increase of 4.5 percent over calendar year 2004 sales.

“Infiniti sales have been strong across the entire model range,” said Igo. “We’re especially pleased with the acceptance in the marketplace of the all-new 2006 Infiniti M.”
