Are there any other rims from the 6-speeders turning black.
If there has been was it covered under warranty?
I think that there might be a problem with the finish. When the rim heats up it brings the black out ffrom under the coating.
I thought perhaps the rim was heating up because the brakes were heating up, which indicates heavy use, which means more dust. I have no idea if that's acutally possible, but it sounded good in my head []
Mine are getting harder and harder to clean on the back side! Front (outside) is fine but the inside is developing black spots that I can't clean up.[/font=Verdana]

That is probably because the inside is not finished like the outside, the brake dust is just settling in. It is hard to fight, but I don't think that there is anything you can do about it other than clean it regularly.

My rims are also getting very hot (even after light driving), but I haven't seen a whole lot of brake dust. There's some, sure, but the rims aren't turning black. Then again, mine already went through breakin, so perhaps most of the loose particles already came off?
Mine had gotten a deeper shade of silver right after the break-in that's for sure. I put a quick coat of wax inside and out and that has helped a lot. Now, when I rotate the tires, I wash them out real good and throw another quick coat of wax on them, just to be sure. As for the black spots, 90% went away with the first application of wax. I expect most of the rest would go away if I really worked at it. Let me know if this helps you1

Don't you guys think that trying to keep the inside of the wheel that clean must be a little harder? I clean them just about every 3 to 4 days, but I don't try to make the inside shine like the outside. Unless you have 20" or larger, the inside of the wheel is not seen that much. Just my Fity cent with 48 cent change. []
I dunno what the black stuff is but I can tell you that the 6MT sedan's 5-spoke wheels make it real easy to see the inside/backside of the rims. I always clean mine. And, I don't know if this is old news or what, but the BEST thing I have found for cleaning brake dust is WINDEX! Use it before washing. For some reason, it works. Don't wet the wheel with water, just spray Windex on a dry wheel and wipe. And wipe. And wipe. Way too much visible brake dust on this car.

They are being replaced under warranty. FYI, the platnium finish is penetrable by some cleaners while the rim is still hot. Infiniti is trying to correct this problem. Beware of acid cleaners. Try to use all porpose cleaners. However they don't seem to get the brake dust off as well.
BTW, you people have way to mush time on your hands or a boring life if you clean your own car. That's why god invented detail shops.
