Yeah, for some reason, automakers tend to be going away from the straight six which I don't understand.

Size constraints is usually the biggest factor. And there's the weight too.

^^^They weigh more??? From what I *think* I understand, they are supposed to be a more balanced design like a V12???

They are very definitely better balanced, which contributes to its ability to handle much more power. But they typically are made with iron blocks for some reason.

They're much heavier... as opposed to the VQ, which is aluminum!!

100 pounds heavier. Considering the Rb26DETT weights a tad over 100 pounds more, its stronger because of the material. This GT-R is nothing special, front midship and AWD

It sounds like a trade/delicate balance then- weight vs reliability

or as in Nissans case, saving weight and using generic parts in most of their cars! (Including The GT-R).

GT-Rs have traditionally been pretty heavy from what I've heard.

I like the look of the car with the bra on but I don't like the prototype's front. I hope they stick a somewhat more traditional GT-R look, if they do that car will look sick!

Has it been confirmed that its a V8? I can't listen to the video since I'm at work but I thought it said they were using 6 cylinder engine...

^^^ V8 has not been confirmed- powerplant info is still conjecture at best. I hope they stay true to their roots and go FI

There will never be a V8 powered GT-R!!

It's a twin turb0 V6, the VQ displaced to 3.7 - 3.8 liters!!
450 - 550 HP!!

... hmmph, V8 my arse!!
