Default Ladies and Gents, meet your 2007 G35 Coupe...

– Styled Concept Vehicle Takes Infiniti Design to the Next Level –

In recent years, Infiniti’s design intent has become more defined, establishing a clear vision for the brand as it expands its presence around the world. More than just a tool to express beauty, the Infiniti design vocabulary is used to define both the premise and promise of Infiniti vehicles – usually with just a gesture or a simple line or two. The latest evolution of Infiniti’s leading-edge design makes its world debut at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in the form of the Infiniti Coupe Concept.

“The Infiniti Coupe Concept draws a new line, continuing the Infiniti tradition of merging design and performance,” said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager, Infiniti Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “It is a vehicle of extraordinary grace and strength, with an aggressive, seductive presence.”

The Coupe Concept’s dramatic exterior includes a full-length glass panel roof, gently waved shoulder line, modulated front fenders and hood, deep front spoiler, polished “bare metal-look” paint and large projector LED headlights and taillights with a special sunglass-style multi-layered surface treatment. It also features hidden, touch-to-open door handles and compact cameras in place of traditional outside rearview mirrors (images appear on flip-up screens located on each side of the instrument cluster).

Other exterior highlights include extensive use of brushed and polished aluminum on the Infiniti signature “double-arch” front grille and on other accent areas, including the side sills, dual exhaust finishers and integrated rear spoiler. The Coupe Concept’s large 20-inch, 9-spoke wheels are painted aluminum-alloy and are mounted with low-profile Bridgestone Potenza tires (255/35R20 front, 275/35R20 rear).

The Coupe Concept interior combines a performance-inspired cockpit with a luxurious passengers space. It includes an Infiniti signature “double wave” instrument panel design, with five large gauges, violet-color gauge illumination and integrated multi-function (navigation, vehicle systems/HVAC controls) information display. A dramatic, full-length center console includes a sculpted leather-and-aluminum shifter knob, an Infiniti analog clock and other controls, including Infiniti’s HMI (Human Machine Interface) controller similar to that recently introduced on the Infiniti M and FX. The three-spoke steering wheel includes elegantly crafted paddle shifters and wheel-mounted control buttons.

Specially textured aluminum accents, in the style of traditional Japanese “Washi” paper, are used throughout the Coupe Concept interior to project an image of artistic resonance and spiritual precision. The large, deeply bucketed leather-appointed front seats include integrated audio speakers in the headrests.

“The Coupe Concept’s interior is both dramatically elegant and appropriately understated. It is an environment where the driver can feel cosseted and in control, with a supportive seat, paddle shifters and aluminum pedals,” said Igo. “At the same time, the passengers are treated to rich leather and aluminum textures, comfortable seating and an expansive view overhead. In short, the Coupe Concept embraces all that is Infiniti – today and as we continue to draw a line to the future.”

The Infiniti Coupe Concept was created at the Nissan Technical Center in Atsugi, Japan.

The Infiniti Coupe Concept, which makes its world debut at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, continues the Infiniti tradition of merging design and performance. It takes Infiniti’s vibrant design vocabulary, which has helped establish Infiniti as one of the most dynamic brands in the luxury market, and elevates it to the next level.

The styling is aggressive, seductive and precise, with delicate surface transitions, an aggressive stance and extensive use of highly detailed surface treatments. The Coupe Concept exterior includes a full-length glass panel roof, gently waved shoulder line, modulated front fenders and hood, deep front spoiler and large projector headlights, polished bare metal-look paint, compact camera outside rearview mirrors, hidden door handles and large 20-inch, 9-spoke painted aluminum-alloy wheels.

The Coupe Concept interior combines a performance-inspired cockpit with a luxurious passengers’ space that is marked by comfort and premium quality amenities. The instrument panel continues Infiniti’s signature “double wave” design, with large, violet-color gauge illumination and a dramatic, full-length center console. Specially textured aluminum accents project the image of traditional Japanese “Washi” paper, providing an added sense of warmth and crispness. A full glass panel roof helps create the Coupe Concept’s bright interior space.

The Infiniti Coupe Concept was created at the Nissan Technical Center in Atsugi, Japan.

The concept pics have been public for a while, but rumor now has it that it has just been officially signed off for '07 production as is, minus hidden door handles, glass roof and side view video cameras, ie., no longer just a concept! Supposedly, NNA wants production before the GT-R release as a early 2008 model delivered in summer of 2007. All I know for certain is, if true, CHOICE IS GOOD!

Production as is...?!!! With that interior/exterior, and the improved hp (I expect), it doesn't need a glass roof to blow the new IS back out of the water! I just don't know if I can afford it. I'm especially worried about the bill that comes with changing that 20in summer tires. Oh well, the family won't approve a coupe anyway What does the sedan look like?...

Still waiting on the sedan. It should be debuted at an auto show coming up and is rumored to release prior to the coupe. I can't wait for pics and details on how the new motors will be tuned. The rumors I've heard about the supposed 3.7 320-340 hp motor seem to jive. Very curious about the transmission though.

That's the rumor: "minus ... and side view video cameras" I would like to see them leave the camera (and display on the dash) as an option. That will be cool.

"Nissan has registered the names "Infiniti G37," "Infiniti M37," and "Infiniti FX37" with the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office. Typically, companies register names of new products a few weeks or months before their introduction. Infiniti is widely expected to unveil a new G Coupe and Sedan at the New York Auto Show in April, based on the Infiniti Coupe Concept. It appears the company will also use the opportunity to transition from its current 3.5-liter V6 to a new 3.7-liter engine. The M and FX model lines — which currently use the same 3.5 liter engine — will also be transitioned to the new engine, but it's not clear when. So far, there is no reference to a Nissan Z coupe, nor is there any reference to a "G45" or "G40" as some fans had hoped. There is also no reference to the much-rumored Nissan 450Z." It's possible that Nissan has scrapped plans for a G45 and 450Z, and instead focused its high-horsepower efforts on the Infiniti GT-R. "

It damn well better. I've heard a lot of different transmission rumors tricklin all the way down from the GTR. I would imagine it will be offered in a 6mt, possible 6/5 AT and any talk of an automated clutch with 7 speeds to be reserved for the GTR.
