Very interesting. I like a lot of it, and dislike some of it.
But why the hell are the size view mirrors basicly non-existant? I think a lot will change on that car between now and production(as usual). The Gas pedal is freakin huge too. I really like the interior though and it looks a lot more luxorious... and like it will better compete with the interior quality of Lexus and Acura.

The Infiniti Coupe Concept continues the Infiniti tradition of merging design and performance. It takes Infiniti’s vibrant design vocabulary, which has helped establish Infiniti as one of the most dynamic brands in the luxury market, and elevates it to the next level.
The Coupe Concept exterior includes a full-length glass panel roof, gently waved shoulder line, modulated front fenders and hood, deep front spoiler and large projector headlights, polished bare metal-look paint, compact camera outside rearview mirrors, hidden door handles and large 20-inch, 9-spoke painted aluminum-alloy wheels.
Inside, the Coupe Concept interior combines a performance-inspired cockpit with a luxurious passengers’ space that is marked by comfort and premium quality amenities. The instrument panel continues Infiniti’s signature “double wave” design, with large, violet-color gauge illumination and a dramatic, full-length center console. Specially textured aluminum accents project the image of traditional Japanese “Washi” paper, providing an added sense of warmth and crispness. A full glass panel roof helps create the Coupe Concept’s bright interior space.
Infiniti Coupe Concept Draws a New Line at 2006 North American International Auto Show
– Styled Concept Vehicle Takes Infiniti Design to the Next Level –
In recent years, Infiniti’s design intent has become more defined, establishing a clear vision for the brand as it expands its presence around the world. More than just a tool to express beauty, the Infiniti design vocabulary is used to define both the premise and promise of Infiniti vehicles – usually with just a gesture or a simple line or two. The latest evolution of Infiniti’s leading-edge design makes its world debut at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in the form of the Infiniti Coupe Concept.
“The Infiniti Coupe Concept draws a new line, continuing the Infiniti tradition of merging design and performance,” said Mark Igo, vice president and general manager, Infiniti Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “It is a vehicle of extraordinary grace and strength, with an aggressive, seductive presence.”
The Coupe Concept’s dramatic exterior includes a full-length glass panel roof, gently waved shoulder line, modulated front fenders and hood, deep front spoiler, polished “bare metal-look” paint and large projector LED headlights and taillights with a special sunglass-style multi-layered surface treatment. It also features hidden, touch-to-open door handles and compact cameras in place of traditional outside rearview mirrors (images appear on flip-up screens located on each side of the instrument cluster).
Other exterior highlights include extensive use of brushed and polished aluminum on the Infiniti signature “double-arch” front grille and on other accent areas, including the side sills, dual exhaust finishers and integrated rear spoiler. The Coupe Concept’s large 20-inch, 9-spoke wheels are painted aluminum-alloy and are mounted with low-profile Bridgestone Potenza tires (255/35R20 front, 275/35R20 rear).
The Coupe Concept interior combines a performance-inspired cockpit with a luxurious passengers space. It includes an Infiniti signature “double wave” instrument panel design, with five large gauges, violet-color gauge illumination and integrated multi-function (navigation, vehicle systems/HVAC controls) information display. A dramatic, full-length center console includes a sculpted leather-and-aluminum shifter knob, an Infiniti analog clock and other controls, including Infiniti’s HMI (Human Machine Interface) controller similar to that recently introduced on the Infiniti M and FX. The three-spoke steering wheel includes elegantly crafted paddle shifters and wheel-mounted control buttons.
Specially textured aluminum accents, in the style of traditional Japanese “Washi” paper, are used throughout the Coupe Concept interior to project an image of artistic resonance and spiritual precision. The large, deeply bucketed leather-appointed front seats include integrated audio speakers in the headrests.
“The Coupe Concept’s interior is both dramatically elegant and appropriately understated. It is an environment where the driver can feel cosseted and in control, with a supportive seat, paddle shifters and aluminum pedals,” said Igo. “At the same time, the passengers are treated to rich leather and aluminum textures, comfortable seating and an expansive view overhead. In short, the Coupe Concept embraces all that is Infiniti – today and as we continue to draw a line to the future.”
The Infiniti Coupe Concept was created at the Nissan Technical Center in Atsugi, Japan.

But why the hell are the size view mirrors basicly non-existant? .
They aren't mirrors, they're cameras. The side view images get displayed on a screen in the dash. This makes for less blind spot and less wind noise.
Holy crap.. that's crazy. I don't know if I like that idea. People are going to be stealing those things left and right, because they probably will sell for like $1000 each. I also think that it might discourage some careless drivers from looking out their side window when doing a lane change and just relying completely on the camera.
Of course, this is just skepticism... but until any of us have tried it, we can't relly comment. My initial impression is to not like the idea though.

I'm liking the concept a little and i'm sure it's going to grow on me more and more. I really don't like the side view of it, kinda reminds me of a Maxima in the back So it's going to have the same engine i'm guessing? No specs on HP or Weight? Damn, I can't wait for numbers. I love the exhausts though, looks good. Where's the Sedan concept? Weren't they going to unveil that as well? Sorry for all the questions btw
Get rid of the rear view mirror if you're going for a camera based rear view system.
I'm 6'4" and I can't tell you how often a car at a 4-way stop has managed to hide behind the mirror.
I love the idea of cameras. That alone would make me buy a new one.
I have my dealership on notice for a GTR. My wife took my G35 and I'm stuck with a 1987 Honda until the GTR comes out. Couldn't afford the service costs on an F430!

There is no sedan concept. The actual production model will be shown at the NYIAS in April. Definitely will have an upgraded engine, especially now that SAE hp ratings are being used.

Oh ok thanks. What are SAE hp? You think it's going to have the same 3.5 liter v6 on there or what?
SAE is a new much more accurate measurment of horsepower that requires companies to put all components of the engine (ex crankshaft, intake, exhaust, etc) on before testing, so that numbers are accurate judgments of the cars horsepower. most cars, our included, have overrated horsepower. the new is350 is rated at 306 SAE hp, which means infiniti actually needs to add a lot more than just 8 hp to keep up, whcih is why i say the engine will definitely be updated but sizewise, i have no idea
if you have a good picture of your car that's shot at a similar angle to one of the pictures they have, you'll see it's basically the same car. they added more lines and the side sills, but honestly, i like mine better. nice gauges and center console. eithier way, there's no way they're selling this car for under 40K. i just don't see it. they really have no reason to especially if they upgrade the engine.
