Does this mean I need to trade my junk in already!?!?! I was getting used to it!
I'm only kidding! I figured something new would be coming out as soon as I got my junk, because the body style hasn't changed too dramaticly in YEARS. Does anyone have pictures? I know there are pistures of the Skyline, but that doesn't count!
Pics are out there but are purely speculation at this point. The next year will be introduced in Feb or April at an auto show. Expected features include a new platform and engine with possibly more displacement.
I have a feeling the new G is going to be similar looking to the GTR if not, have the same body as the GTR with a little less HP. I can be wrong though.
I went by the Infiniti dealer on Tuesday and started asking around. From what I got, they don't see any changes in the near furture ('06).
The G35 Sedan will go into the history books and be replaced by the Skyline, but the coupe will be staying. One guy actually said he talked to some millitary guys who went to Japan, got a skyline and put the G35 on the back.
I took it with a grain of salt, because you know you can't believe what a lot of these guys are saying and most of them have no clue what they're talking about.

I don't know! guess we'll see!
The G35 or a variation of it both in sedan and coupe form will be here to stay. The G35 is a Skyline in Japan, just rebadged and renamed for the American market. An auto show in between Feb and April is rumored to unveil the next Gen G.
Well, the idea of a G37 would be increased displacement from a 3.5 liter motor to a 3.7 liter motor. I was hoping for a G45 but I don't believe any such luck is in the stars. Any info about the powertrain is strictly rumour at this point. As with every new generation they have to up the ante some how and usually that involves bigger Hp numbers. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bit more displacement.
You missed one....less WEIGHT! I'll be good if these cars weren't so heavy
You know, I actually thought about the "added weight", but when you really consider (added) weight to power ratio, there SHOULDN'T be any power lost! What would suck is if they kicked the HP up over 300 and didn't kick up the torque. Right now, I think it's at like 260 lbs @ 5K for the 6MT; give or take. (jl9618 would know for sure). If the HP stayed the same and they only kicked the torque up to like 290 lbs or even 280 lbs, that would make a BEAUTIFUL difference. I'm not too hip on giving cars more power, so I don't even know if that's possible, but I know that I would trade mine in for an '07!
I digress...
Going back to the weight:
It's not like they're making it a V-8. They're only adding 0.2 liters. That can't weight too much more than the 3.5 liter. Even if it did, the added power would counter the added weight.
I personally think the engine size will be staying the same and they'll be changing the body style pretty dramaticly. When I went to the dealer, the guy I talked to said they would be coming out with a G37 PLUS an FX37/47. However, (as I stated in an earlier post) what a lot of these sales guys know, you can stick in a fly's ear! (For those of you who don't get that; flies don't have ears, which implies that a lot of car sales guys don't know anything about the cars they are selling.)
I don't know! I could be wrong. Can you help us out with an opinion about a heavier vehicle, jl?
Sure... the extra power of the slightly larger engine would offset itself in straight line acceleration, but more weight up in the front of the car with a bigger engine could throw the balance of the car off a bit.
I'm guessing that it probably wouldn't affect the weight THAT much, but maybe 20 pounds or so, assuming they use the same grade materials and just make it larger(A complete guess).

newer larger engines are often lighter and more fuel efficient. look at the MB. their new 5.5 L engine is lighter than the 5L unit it replaces, while gettin somewhere between 2-3 mpg better fuel econ. more in teh range of the G35, the BMW 330i engine is more powerful yet gets better fuel economy and is lighter than the engine it replaces.
