i remember seeing a few years ago on tv and the internet about a ship that is basically like a moving city. it's suppose to have it's own airport, stores, malls, etc. it's also suppose to cruise the world for two years visiting europe, australia, etc. anyways, my question is if anybody knows what this boat is called or knows where i can find any information. i'd seriously love to be able to get a place on that boat and travel for 2 years. anyways...any info is appreciated.

I spent six months on a ship like that. It ws called the USS George Washington. Just contact your local recruiter...I mean "Navy travel agent" and I'm sure he can get you on one just like it.

I don't think I could take being at sea for 2 years... no matter how luxurious the accomodations.
and lol @ navy. good one.
The selling point is supposed to be the ports and places you call on. It's not like you are in and out of the port in a day or two, they are supposed to be extended stays.
The upside on the water is that the ship is supposed to be so huge it's got it's own weather patterns....

You could also check out "The World" by ResidenSea. It is a ship that is all condos and you can either buy them or lease them for as long as you'd like (or can afford). I've seen it on the travel channel and actually got some literature on it (just a FYI...not to buy a condo ).
ru..the cheapest apartment on the boat (which btw is only 450 sq ft) runs around 212k and the monthly maintenance fee is close to 600. i'm sure the cost of living will be pretty high. unless you're rolling in the doe i'm sure ppl will be working on the ship.
ck - thats definately nice, but i love the whole idea of the freedom ship because you don't have be a millionaire to afford it. lol. actually, the freedom ship is nice because you can work aboard the ship.

The Freedom Ship is a really cool concept, but I'd be very surprised if it ever actually gets built. It sounds like the CEO is having a hard time finding investors for the project, and the timelines already seem impossible (11May07 for departing Trujillo Honduras).
Also, I get the idea that this guy isn't especially professional based upon his most recent news:

Hello Freedom Ship Supporters,
Thanks for checking out our web site. Let me bring you up to date on our latest activities.
Today everything is revolving around financing.
Our biggest delay to-date has been the hundreds of "scam" operations that have come to us claiming to be "big time" investors and they want to provide the initial investment for Freedom Ship. After we work with them for a week or two, they start asking us for money, so this tells us that they do not have any money. Then we move on to someone else. We are not going to give any of these "con men" money, but what we do lose is our time in checking them out, talking to them, and listening to their line of BS. And our time is our most valuable asset.
Unfortunately, we must check out everyone who comes to us, because someone may be "for real." All in all we have probably lost more than a year in our time table. These "scamsters" are everywhere. There must be millions of them out there.
As an engineer who, previously, had only heard about "financial scam operations" I did not ever expect to encounter one in person. But now, I have met hundreds of people involved in financial scams. I should write a book. If the FBI, Interpol, or any other legal agency is serious about finding these people, I can tell them where to find lots of them.
However, we think we have finally found a group who is "for real." At least, they are not asking us for money. We will continue to work with them (as well as any other group who is "for real") and hopefully we can give all you guys some very good news in the not too distant future.
We continue to have many newspaper and magazine articles published articles about us every month. In fact, sometimes the traffic gets so heavy, our staff cannot handle it.
We are planning a stock holders meeting soon and it will be on the web so all of you guys can tune in and pick up everything there is to know about what is happening today in the world of "Freedom Ship."
Thanks again for all the support you have given us. This is what keeps us going.
Norman Nixon, PE, CEO
Freedom Ship International Inc.
I wouldn't invest a considerable amount of money into a venture of this magnitude where the CEO writes "listening to their line of BS" and "scamsters". I hope that I'm wrong, but I really can't see this happening.
