Can I put a sign on my windows to remind motorists of this law?

Three points!?! That's a bit too much. Vehicular manslaughter is only TWO points!

Depends on the state's point system.

Many states have this law. I know NY does, and they definitely enforce it.

2 close friends of mine have received tickets for cruising in the fast lane on NY Highways. They had no idea it was a law, because they were from out of state, and we don't have a law like that where we live.

Whether or not you cruise in the fast lane or not, it should be common courtesy to pull into the slower lane if a faster driver comes up behind you and wants to pass while you are in the fast lane of any highway.

It's actually New Jersey's oldest motor law...keep right except to pass. Of course it's never inforced. Perfect example is my friend's ticket he got last summer for passing on the right. It's a two lane road with a 55mph speed limit. The guy in the left lane is cruising at 45mph and won't respond to flashing lights or horns. My friend goes right and passes (doesn't gun past him but regardless passes on the right). Cop pops out of no where and my buddy gets a 4 point ticket.

The jackass in the passing lane should get the ticket, not the person passing on the right. Is everybody just supposed to sit behind that clown while he does 45? I think not!!

I live in Colorado and I gotta say no way on this one. As much as I hate the slow dude in the left lane that won't move over this gives way too much subjective power to some cop with a hard on trying to meet a quota at the end of the month.

I frequently travel the highways with my job and driving in the left lane in MODERATE traffic involves passing someone in a right lane on a pretty frequent basis. Having to "duck" back into a lane to the right of me every time would be ridiculous. You also have to figure in that we have a TON of construction on our major highways.

I dunno. I hate the slow guy but I am not prepared to be OK with the polices expansion in power in very subjection situations.

Anyone read this part of the article?
Quote:
others say they were deliberately driving under the speed limit in the left lane in an effort to prevent others from speeding.
I'm glad the troopers don't agree with that mind set. Same with those who parks in the lane that's about to merge in an attempt to stop others from last minute merging.

Some people are ridiculous, if you don't like people speeding then stay the F&*@ off of the interstate.
