It will probably be priced a bit high. The engine is going to be handbuilt, I heard no AC or radio. It will be more of a street legal race car. I would love to have one, who knows, maybe one of my clients will suprise me.
i hope dodge makes a few changes to the engine when it releases the viper gts to make sure it still rules the corvette
I think the first thing Dodge needs to do is style the current Viper so it doesn't look so Vette like. Looking at a 63 - 65 Vette, you'd swear that the current Viper is descended from that styling.
That being said, unless the Viper's go for a lot less, they'll have a hard time handling the Vette.

for the cost, the vette will probably be better, it always was the cheaper car. IMO the fact the viper is more expensive makes it more prestigous because you don't see them every 2 seconds. around here i see more vette's than bimmers.
i don't see the similarities between the 63-65 vette compared to the new gts. i know i've seen pics of the actual production gts, but the closest thing i could find was the competition gts.

I can't look at the new Vettes and not do a doubletake thinking it is a Viper. It is no coincident that the Corvette decided to go back to non-disappearing headlights after 40 years-they are trying to directly copy and compete with the Dodge Viper. The Viper was made to be a direct descendant of the Shelby Cobra, the GTS from the Coupe. Corvette didn't enter the picture except to get its ass kicked by the Shelby Cobra in the early-mid sixties on the race circuit. The Vette then began trying to covertly mimic the Cobra. That ended when Shelby America folded. The Vettes then showed their true lineage by developing the "great" C2-C4s. The guys at Dodge made no bones about it-they instigated the Viper concept to be a 2nd generation Cobra ie, to resurrect the greatest car ever. That 500hp C6 that looks like a Viper is finally getting close to Viper performance. We'll see what that model costs, which I bet will be close if not more than the $70,000 the new 2005s Vipers are going for off the showroom floor.
Those are absolutely drop dead gorgeous cars. Autoweek is reporting that monster Vette will do 0-60 in .........3.5sec!!! I think that is the best thing GM has done in a long time. There were a lot of Vette owners that went over to Dodge when the Viper came out. They just may get a bunch back. Does anyone have any idea on pricing? I read the Viper boards and people are waiting anxiously to see what the SRT-10 Coupe will look like and what it will do. There are a number of Viper owners that are less than enthusiastic about the appearance of the new Vipers(Gen III). I still like the 1996-2002 GTS appearance better, but I don't dislike the new ones. Although Ford's flagship is the GT, I don't think it belongs in the comparison because it is $150,000! How about buying a Viper then getting $80,000 in mods?! I would take the Viper. Need your Ford GT oil changed? Where the heck do you go? I wouldn't trust any dealership, it would have to be a speed shop. Anyway, I think the number one beneficiary in the 500hp car wars is....ME, and all sports car enthusiasts! Yeah, us.
i've seen the pics of the new gts somehwere, i just can't remember where. i've heard the new c6 0-60 was 3.8, not that there's much of difference between 3.5 or 3.8 both still damn fast. i just want the viper to be the reigning power still.

At the VOI in Dallas a couple of months ago, Dodge Corp. released the new SRT-10 GTS "Concept Car". It is definitely not the car that will be produced, although it is close, and a GTS will definitely be produced. No figures as far as engine or performance times have been released. From what I've read, the V-10 has up to a 600+hp potential in a normally aspirated configuration. The executive brass in charge of Viper assured the attendees that they are committed to keeping Dodge the number one American sports car builder.
