OH come on. Stru, when I think about the opposite of rap I think about pop, like Backstreet boys, Nsync, and BRITNEY. So when a premire 'rap' artist teams up with any of those groups I just think it's selling out to the hip hop culture. I said nothing about them making money. I mean can you see Tupac doing something with Backstreet boys? I'm just saying he's selling out to the things he's claiming in his own music.

Yea of course everything is about money but at the same time it's HOW they get that money. And how does gangstas make money? Drugs, robery, etc. What about 'gansta' rappers, they make money off their street cred. Snoop making a video Britney goes out of his reputation as a 'gangsta' rapper like he claims. You are making a argument about oranges when we are talking about apples.

Snoop is a pop artist. Pop transcends genre; you have have pop-rap just like you have pop-punk, pop-country, or whatever.
And anyway, I don't think there are "opposites" in music, just different things. You could just as easily say that the opposite of rap is polka, or baroque, or industrial noise metal.

Sometimes I sit back and wonder if these rappers/artists in general are just counting their cheese and laughing at all of "us". Dr Dre, Snoop, 50 Cent, etc, etc. don't still do the sh!t they rap about on a daily basis. Dre is a damn family man. 50 Cent per his own words is a homebody (quite the opposite of In da Club).
If anything Snoop doing a cameo with Britney Spears is probably more realistic of what is currently going on in his life right now (he's rubbing shoulders on the Red carpet with all these people at award shows, movie premiers ie; Starsky and Hutch, etc) than rolling around popping dudes and banging on the street corner. Snoop is a BUSINESS MAN FIRST AND FOREMOST. His own description of his ambtions include stepping your game up and taking it to the next level. That's exactly what he did.
Another example is Marilyn Manson. These guys realize they are promoting and selling an image along with the music. Most of the general public buys into this in turn continuing the cycle of monetary success for the artist.
Dude, Snoop will always be OG... he's no Sellout...he's from the LBC (nearby where I grew up), so I can relate and understand exactly what where he's coming from.
Things change over time... Snoop Dogg is now a devoted father, is the coach of his son's football team, and he does a lot of charity work. I'm sure we wouldn't have seen him doing those things 10-15 years ago when he was rapping on The Chronic talking about Nigga wit a Gun and Deeeez Nuts.....
Time changes people... they evolve, mature, try to become an example, etc.... at least I can say that from personal experience. I am a totally different person now that I have 2 young kids to care for....
I wouldn't consider him a sellout for being in her video. It's music...
I do think it's funny to see him in commercials with people i'd never think he would be working with. But I don't consider that selling out either. It's just him. But then again, I <3 that guy. He crackes me up.
JL: The Roots are the best! Although I have to say, I don't like The Tipping Point as much as some of their other albums

Most def. Ever since Rahzel left the group their music has changed a bit. I like their earlier albums like Things Fall Apart.
I went to a RATM concert that WuTang was supposed to be at but one of em got arrested in Arizona the previous night so they canceled. The Roots stepped up and that was my first introduction to them. Seeing a rap BAND is way better than a rap GROUP. The performance they threw was once in a life time. Throughout their set they would individually solo each musical instrument. I have to say Rahzel was even better in person than on his album.
