The 6MT G cost more than the AT, for example. But I think it's because of the standards that come with the 6MT that makes it more expensive. Am I wrong cuz I'm not sure, maybe it is because it's a 6MT it's more expensive.

Yes it will, last I heard it was only available with a 7-speed SMG.
Remember, SMG is still a manual.

SMG (Sequential Manual Transmission) is a manual transmission, but it has a computer-controlled clutch instead of a foot pedal. Also, it has up-/downshift paddles instead of a selector knob; you can't skip gears (hence Sequential). Lots of race cars use it nowadays.

BMW is getting very close with their SMG technology but it's still not as quick as a *true* manual. Ferrari has it figured out but I hear the shifts are rather jerky. Plus the price of admission is a little more than I think we are all currently used to..
One thing I think is beyond cool is a lot of these cars have a button for sport mode that changes a bunch of things (air, fuel, timing, etc.) that will up your horsepower.
The M5 cruises at 400 hp but with the sport mode engaged you can tap into the full 500 hp.

I'm sure at some point, the will make a auto tranny that no human can match in terms of how fast and accurately it can shift. However, the reason we enthusiasts like manual transmissions is not completely tied to how well it can technically "perform." Driving stick is a completely different feeling than driving auto. Some people just prefer the experience of driving a vehicle instead of steering it.

They already do. It's called ferrari but as I mentioned earlier I've heard it can be somewhat jerky.
You hit the nail on the head for why I chose 6mt over 5at. I think for some people driving a manual actually makes them a better driver cause you have to pay more attention. I know it did for my ex.

This I can agree with! For all intents and purposes, I think that "some" people would rather be lazy behind the wheel, that's why they don't enjoy manuals. The cite stop-&-go traffic as their reason for not liking manuals. I think it's hogwash personally. Preference is preference however.
And no, the SMG is not an automatic. Automatics do not have clutches. I, too, prefer a traditional manual to the SMG, but to say it isn't "technically" a manual transmission is wrong.
Actually, vanos... I do cite stop-&-go traffic as the reason I got an AT. Daily commuting in California is not exactly what I would call the ultimate driving experience. I love to "drive" stick, but would prefer to not have to shift in traffic every single day.
