By now you all know about the Cingular and AT&T Merge. Well as of November 4th,.... All calls between AT&T customers and Cingular customers are all MOBILE TO MOBILE. So if you got unlimited Mobile to Mobile...you're talking for free. []
And NOV 15th will be our day 1 as the same company.... **EDIT*** Go read below. I got new info.
LOL! All i do is send commands and make sure the stupid equipment is working right when they set them up. But i can always cause some problems...muahahah. Oh, and if you are tired of the customers now, i hear theres going to be some huge changes in about a year or so, it's going to be hell from what i hear.
I just got screwed w/ my mobile-mobile cause the guy at the ATT store set up my plan incorrectly. I upgraded my plan and added an additional line. Ended up getting charged $200+ each on two phones..
Called in customer support and this guy said he had to write up a form or ticket to the billing dept. Said they'd look over my bill and call back in 2-3 business days.
After 2 days I got a lil paranoid. First I went to the ATT store and the guy that set my account up was there. I asked him to double check it to see it was set up properly. He looked and said it was ok.
So later that night I called Customer Service. Got a lady this time and just asked if the form was sent to billing. Looked it up and she said nothing was filed, but someone fixed my account. She traced it to the store, so the guy lied that it was setup correctly. Then she helped me w/ my bill.
3 and 1/2 hours later (mostly on hold) all my problems got fixed.. there were a bunch two. Mobile-mobile wasn't set up right, I didn't get the right amount of minutes for my plan, my Nights didn't start at the right time..
Ive been w/ ATT for 3 years now. First problem Ive had w/ them. Just wanna warn some of you about getting it setup in-store..

G35Princess,
Can you elaborate more?
After 11/15, why will the plans be worse?
For example, will Cingular's 1000 minutes for 39.99 not be available?
I'm on the fence for a new phone; my current is digital, not gsm.
So rate plans aside, I need good coverage and my ATT now has been poor, esp. in some areas of SoCal. I have heard and read a variety of things indicating T-mobile and Verizon are best in signal.
Of course phone features are important too and many (most) models are not compatible accross providers different formats or phones for the same format. []
I'm likin' the new Sony Ericsson Z500A, but will be exclusive to Cingular
I don't know if this is helping or hurting my decision. My Cingular contract is up and I was thinking about switching to Verizon because the signals I get through Cingular are pretty bad in my area. I wanted to get the Motorola V710 - i'm such a sucker for new toys >__< But it's not GSM I think
lol, well i got that mixed up. i knew it wasn't for nextel. was thinking it was cingular for some reason. was trying to make a funny.
anyways, i've got nextel, best service and signal, and i live near two military bases which usually interferes with signals. i would suggest that to everybody. strongly suggest the free incoming plans.

Whoa, so many damn questions. Good luck Malida. [lol]
ok ok, i'll help.
I'll try to explain a little about this "merge" well actually it's not a merge. What happened is that Cingular bought out AT&T. How did this happen? AT&T put itself up for grabs to the highest bidder, and Cingular happened to be the highest one.
Now lets see to answer some questions.
Jaylin, I’m not so sure about SunCom. But I tell you this much, not sure if it will answer your question. When Cingular bought out AT&T it got to have all the of AT&T's contracts with them. When a company is bought out, they have to give up everything, so I’m guessing this includes SunCom? Not sure man, maybe Malida knows.
donpalombella, seriously I doubt that anyone will be getting screwed. I have yet to see that Cingular force anyone to change plans. Think about it, if Cingular starts to force people to change plans, you think they will be keeping their business? Many people would drop them and go with another carrier. Cingular didn't just spend about $40 mil for that to happen. BUT it doesn’t mean they won't do it, I would be surprised if they do that. Those are more on my thoughts about it rather than inside news.
Fastforward, Cingular didn’t just spend 40 Mil. For nothing...[lol] they did it for a reason. As for your phones, no you don't have to change phones or anything. Cingular and AT&T both use GSM & TDMA. As for the next question you or someone else will be asking, "But what about the phone being locked and only 1 carrier allowing it?" There will be an OTA, over the air update to all the phones to allow them to work.
Beanie, it's really up to you if you want to switch. I can’t tell you that Cingular/AT&T will be better after this whole thing. But I can tell you that I been with both and I just wasn’t pleased. I been with Nextel | also and they seemed ok for a while, but just wasn’t what I wanted. Now I’m with Verizon and so far everything is great. I got the LG VX7000 phone, and it's awesome. I don't suggest you get the V710 though; there have been many problems with them, one of them being the camera lens being manufactured incorrect. If you want a really awesome phone and want to go with Verizon, I suggest you wait for the LG VX 8000, that phone is going to rawk. It's got a 1.3 megapixel camera, plays mp3s, gots EVDO, and many other options. Rumor has it that it will be released before Christmas.
