Transformers are cool, but you are right -- I was in the "upper end of the demographic" at the time. I was into Speed Racer, Micronauts, Legos... among other things.

Transformers and legos - pretty much sums up my childhood. I had a 3' x 3' x 3' bow filled to the top with legos. I once built a lego city using every piece and it filled up most of our living room.
