the speed you're downloading at.... choose the highest one or cable. better quality (I think) and faster. Hope that helps... correct me if I'm wrong though...I'm kinda high on Vicodin...so I"m not sure.

What do u mean downloading music? Do u mean through a stream and ur listening to it? Or do u mean when U are ripping like songs of a cd to ur hard drive?

In either way...a higher bit rate is better...

For streaming music the higher the bitrate the better the quality. Usually higher bitrates are for faster connections because they can handle the higher amount of data.

For rippin songs...bit rate around 128kbits is usually good enough. It really depends on what quality it was initially recorded at. U can't go from 64kbits to 128kbits....there will be no improvement there. So U need to take a look at the orginally source.

Hopefully that helps a little...please correct me if i'm wrong. GOOD LUCK! []

CDs are at 320 bitrate.
if you download a song thats 128bit, and if you play it on a highend stero...you will hear a lot of static. usually you want mp3's that are at least 192bitrate.

the higher the bitrate = better quality.

edvin, I'm sorry I have to correct you - CD's are way beyond 320kb - CD's are closer to 9.5MB/minute (that's bytes(B), not bits(b)). Think about it - old CD's could hold about 680MB of data and a CD can hold about 72 minutes of music - 680MB/72min = 9.44MB/min.

The bitrate of an MP3 file refers loosely to it's quality. The higher the bitrate the more data is used each second to encode the audio. 320kb is a (perhaps) "near CD quality" MP3 encoding rate. Since MP3 is a "lossy" compression technique the lower the bitrate the more actual audio data is discarded and the worse it sounds. If I can, I always try and get MP3's at 320kb or at least 256kb (192kb if it's a must have and I can't find anything better). Personally I think 128kb MP3's sound like garbage. Many people do not care about the quality and are only concerned with size (faster download, and can store more on their players, etc.) in which case 128kb is an acceptable tradeoff.

I'm still waiting for an online music store that let's you purchase a low quality MP3 version of a song for portable players, etc. and a high (CD) quality WAV file for burning to CD. Once I can get that for $1 a song I'll be hooked. Paying $1 for a 128kb MP3 seems silly to me.

About $150-200 an hour, still less than a post-op TS.[lol]

Had to wait till you got your serious answers.
that's the bi-rate,

if you're on a budget, you can get a berate (To rebuke or scold angrily and at length.) for $5 on most street corners or by stealing someone's parking spot.[]
