Default Something else to piss people off with

I must admit, I am a gadget-o-phile and an early adopter, but this clicker is OTT for me. But for those whoe get off on pissing people off, this article refers to a new keyfob remote to turn off TVs at home or public places. The inventor's intent is not to be malicious, but - come on? Seems like a likely tool for the prankster or obnoxious.

and of course if you have a death wish, turn off all the TVs at the local sports bar during the World's Series or Superbowl[rage]

Still waiting for the remote to turn off "@$$hole drivers"

It looks like it would be funny the first one or two times and after that it would get really annoying.

I read of a similar device that shut off cell phones. Was developed because too many self-absorbed idiots either forget or don't bother to shut off ringers in theaters, restaurants, etc. Hey, I'm all for it!

I don't believe the cell phone device turns them off, rather it blocks any available signal so no calls in or out

The Register (theregister.co.uk) had an article about a GSM-jammer. It's of questionable legality in most countries, but does work well.

Unfortunately (for some), some providers don't use GSM (Sprint uses CDMA) and wouldn't be affected. For this reason, I thought about getting one. *eg*

America is just about the only country left that isn't GSM throughout right? I remember reading about a few places in Japan that installed these at hospitals and other places where phones can do actual damage

i heard of a church using something to interfere with everyone's signal because everyone was always answering their phone in the middle of service. saw it just recently on the news actually. i personally would be extremely pissed if a buisness or church did that with my cell phone, otherwise they can pay for my service.

If you have a Palm Pilot or PDA there are programs that let you use the IR port as a remote control.

I dont think the FCC would like people blocking other people's signal.
