Since we have a good mix of people from different age groups and very different backgrounds, I thought that it might be interesting to hear your opinions regarding piercings and tattoos for both guys and gals.

I change the wallpaper on my computer about every months or so. I change my car every 3 years or so. I change my office artwork every year or so - why would I want a picture that is just going to look crappy and dated in a few years on me?
I also have a base belief in adaptation as a lifestyle - within that, permanent adjustments that don't have a clear and permanent advantage for economic or social gain are stupid. i.e., there is a chance it can work against you, none that it can work for you, why bother?
Its all personal preference, so who am I to say what is cool or uncool for someone else?
I just think that if you want to be in the professional world, then you should probably keep the ink hidden, and leave the jewlery at home.
I would never get a piercing, just not my style. As far as ink, I have answered before, but to repeat, I want to get a celtic cross across my shoulders neck mid back with my family's crest in the center.
Used to want a tribal on my arm, but they got too popular, and they would be harder to hide if I were wearing a short sleeve dress shirt.
I think the problem with a tattoo is...it's permanent. May work for some, and I certainly am intruiged and can appreciate some of the body art I've seen, but personally, I think if I had tatooed myself in highschool or college with something I thought was cool, I'm not sure I'd feel the same way about it now.
Having said that, my personal preference would be small and discreet on a woman, but a guy can probably get away with anything.
To each their own... I have 3 piercing on each ear and a Cartilage piercing on my left ear. I also have a belly button ring. But that's it. Most of the time you can't see them...but I do fluant them every now and then...it's my WILD side!
as for tats... don't have one, I used to want one... either my name in cambodian scripture or a Triqueta... but never got to it (beside, my mom might just kick my ass if I ever got one)
I dunno, I think piercings kind of depend on the person... what ever makes the happy. I have my ears pierced twice but rarely wear earings.
As for tattoos... I like them but don't have any. My x had a full sleeve on one side, on both calves, and from his neck to his butt tattoed with some scene with a japanese demon guy (I think that is what it was). It was really cool looking but took some time to get used to.
I've wanted to get one for the longest time incorporating my Japanese family crest but I think my grandmother would freak [:O] Maybe one of these days...
I like tatoos on men and women. I have 2 small ones. And yes tats are addictive, you want to keep going back once you start.
I like certain piercings on men. some are just weird.
Women it's more acceptable I think. I guess since I have a bunch, 4 in my right ear. 5 in my left ear. 1 Tounge and 1 belly button and my left eyebrow.
Not a fan of body piercing except for women ears and also the tats on women gives them that hell raiser appearance, however, I do enjoy talking with folks who have had their tongue pierced.
I love tats on women, esp in the frontal hip area, slightly before, cough, cough, area...I think a small tattoo is a perfect compliment to a sexy bikini. I personally have three, a large tribal dragon on my left arm, tricepdelt area, eight vertical chinese characters running vertical on my right arm same area, and a large red chinese character on the back of my neck. I receive lots of positive comments on this one; strangely it looks more like I got branded. I’m really conservative during work and have a semi professional job so all tats are never displayed during work...yea, tats are very additive..some folks also enjoy the pain of the needle..
i'm not into tattoos too much, especially on a girl. i like to see the smooth curves of a girl without them being abruptly stopped by a tattoo. unless it was in the aforementioned place as long as its descrete and complimenting. i kinda lean towards what randy said about changing everything. i change my backgrounds about once a week. i would def. get board with a tattoo and need to change it.
i have a piercing in my cartilage and i enjoy that. i would also like to have my eyebrow pierced and leave it at that, but most places won't allow piercings. i haven't the need to worry about professionalism till i go for an interview, at which point i'll leave it out if i get the job. i also think a belly piercing is sexy on girl, especially if she's got a nice stomach.
my 2 cents

I really like belly piercings on girls and, of course, ear piercings. Some very small nose piercings are okay too, but I don't care for eyebrow, lip, or tongue piercings. Personally, I don't like tattoos on women, especially the ones on the lower back. That being said, I can appreciate those that have a special meaning like the one that Misty May (volleyball gold medalist) has on her shoulder as a tribute to her mother who recently died.
