Default Columbia House - DVD Club

Anyone have experience with this? I was looking online and if I'm doing the math correctly it sounds like a good deal. I was considering signing up, fulfilling my agreement on the initial order and cancelling. Any thoughts? I just remember them sending all this unwanted crap when I had signed up for there CD thing like 10 years ago. I figure if I fulfill immediately I can just cancel.

It's been a few years since I've done it as well. Yes you can cancel when your agreement is fulfilled from what I understand. Years ago with CD's they would send you one every month if you didn't send a card back in saying you didn't want something. That was a real pain...I was stuck a few times with crappy CD's. They didn't do that when I was in the DVD club though.

How many free DVD's are you getting?

I have joined their DVD club, fulfilled my membership in one order and canceled about 4 times now.

If you really want to scam it (not that I am recommending this) they also offer a deal where if you sign someone else up you get four free and your buddy gets the same awesome introductory offer. So if you sign yourself up, you get all of them. You're now on the hook for another minimum purchase, but considering how many you are getting for free, it's worth it. I don't really think it's scamming though. What does the company care if it's you or someone else as long as they get the money from someone?

I saw this mentioned on some forum somewhere. I was thinking the same thing.

I too was part of the cd club. Not a bad deal when it was going, so long as you canceled right after you fulfilled your requirements.

I'm a DVD member. It's a good deal because the DVD's are the same price when they come out and they have special deals going on all the time and also you can buy one and get like 40% off on your second and even third DVD in one order.
