Default Don't forget Life's Little Pleasures!

Take a step back and remember while your glass may be half-empty, it is also half-full. Life's little pleasures serve to remind me. Here's a couple of noteworthy (to me!) little things that brought a smile to my face this weekend.

- after sharpening the 3 blades on the lawn tractor (big PITA and long overdue), it was working so good I cut a nice baseball diamond pattern on the back yard and had a quick game with the kids.

- got the pool cover on and the plumbing winterized this year BEFORE the leaves started to fall and, BONUS!!, then it hit me - I finally figured out how to get the cover OFF in the spring when it's full of stanky water and debris without contaminating your pool water or breaking a sweat. Just pump water into the pool until crud in the cover floats up and off over the sides! Duh! []

Care to share your Life's Little Pleasures?

My 5-year old went to a birthday party this weekend that was held at a BMX track. He just recently got off his training wheels so I wasn't sure how he would do. Well, he was quite scared in the beginning and took a big spill falling backwards going up a steep hill pretty early on so I figured he was done for the day. But, after sitting out and icing his busted lip he got right back up and rode the course a few more times. Sure, he still needed help in some areas, but I was one proud daddy!

Sleep. I love to sleep, and never seem to get enough. Truly one of life's underappreciated pleasures, IMHO.

I hear ya, Kloh, just spending time with my Lil 8 year old girl (she lives with her Mom) is life's truest pleasure for me.

Watching my 2-year-old son get all excited about riding a two-wheel bike (with training wheels) and seeing him ride off throughout the store - without hitting anything.

Or seeing the look in his eyes when I offer to let him "drive" my car.

Or the scream of 'Daddy!' when I open door after work, quickly followed by the biggest hug he can give.

Getting off work everyday at 6am and driving back home towards the Sierras and seeing beautiful sunrises! Blue sky with, pinks, oranges, and reds. []

This is my favorite part of the day. I get jumped by all three of my little ones when I walk in the door.

[] Enjoy it while you can, it doesn't last forever. On Friday, I only had three dogs to jump me...wife and one son off at soccor game, another son at hockey practice, and daughter at school working on the Homecoming Parade float. And, *sigh*, when we are all together, it often seems like someone is making plans to go do something. Sometimes I feel like Al Bundy on the couch handing out $$$ to everyone as they pass out the door! Take LOTS of pics, I wish there were digiCams 15 years ago!

DHOLLY,

Another way to get the water off is to use a pump and pump it off. A lot quicker and you direct where you want the water to go. That is what we used to do when I was a kid.
