My wife, my G, and my keys.
Ok, here's the skinny. I love my wife dearly, she's the light of my life, my candle in the window on a cold, dark winter's night.
But, a week after we bought our G (in May), she lost one of the keyrings with two keys and a key fob on it. They were on a counter, right over a box that was donated to Goodwill the day before we noticed them missing. We contact Goodwill, no one reported a set of keys in a donation box (imagine that).
So, I call Grubbs, get a price on a Fob and new keys....and gag. The key fob is $110, plus the need to change the chip in the existing key and program the car to the new security chips. What a pain in the ass. I decide to wait and risk it.
I get my car detailed by Grubbs, and they take my Infiniti logo off my keychain to replace it with a Grubbs thingie (that sucks). So, I'm pissed, I thought that little symbol was cool! And, since my wife kindly lost her keys, I can't take hers. Grubbs was good enough to give me a used one from a loaner, but it's not the same (all scratched up and stuff), so I never use it.
A couple weeks later. She loses the other key to my Neon. This isn't a big deal, just an inconvenience. Besides, if someone stole it and I tried to claim it I'd probably have to pay the insurance company for the hassle rather than them pay me. But, we only have one key for each of 2 cars now.
4 months(!) passes without incident, I just live in fear of losing my keys or locking my keys in either car. Last night, while I'm trying to find the key to my humidor, I see what looks like an Infiniti symbol behind a bottle of perfume on our bedroom bookshelf. Strange, I never put the symbol Grubbs gave me on the bookshelf? I move the perfume, and.....KEYS! They're on the bookshelf, with the key section STILL IN THE PLASTIC SHEATH. With a brand-new Infiniti logo to boot!
Like any good husband, I move the perfume back in place, call my wife into the room, and play a game of hot-and-cold with her. She finally looks behind the perfume bottle then puts her head on the bookshelf thoroughly embarrassed.
The trials of marriage. I think I need key locators. <grin>
