As someone who writes software to work with MS Exchange, I would have to agree wholeheartedly, although I am sure there are plenty who would say Exchange sucks even worse...err stronger...err whatever []
I haven't used Exchange, but in my experience, software from MS and Apple are miles ahead of everyone else in terms of usability.

It's kinda funny because so many people will agree that MS products are consistently better than most other stuff out there when it comes to usability and functionality...but fault it when it comes to the licensing or cost. No matter what can be said about Microsoft as a company, they are THE premier software engineering company and know how to write software better than anyone out there. I work with many of their devs on a day-to-day basis and they are some of the sharpest people I know.

Man, I've said almost that exact same line several times []
I think most companies that develop software (mine included) could learn a thing or two from MS.

No kidding! I know I have learned quite a bit from them. What kind of software do you develop?
I do mostly UI work for a plugin platform. It's the configuration system for all our hardware; each HW product group writes a plugin and I provide common UI elements that they can use (toolbars, icons, object management). What do you do?
I actually did an internship at MS and was very impressed with their SW engineering process. I'm trying to institute some of their principles and processes at my company. I think their attention to usability and testing goes far beyond that of most companies, and it shows in the common look and feel of all their products.
Apologies to everyone here who doesn't care about software...

I write mostly prototype software that integrates our storage hardware and software with Microsoft's business apps. It's kinda nice because I get to focus on doing new functionality, read fun and interesting, instead of the more tedious software development tasks like *gasp* internationalization I did just finish my first actual released product which was kinda cool though.
I too apologize for hijacking the thread, but since a certain target did not take the bait, I figured we might as well make use of it[]
