First of all. I would like to commend VQ, Chaz, and Gavriil1 for their excellent work on this forum.
I in no way mean to detract from all of the work that they have put into this site, nor do I expect them to do any more work than they already do. However, now that the site is getting quite large, there seems to be a lot of trolls roaming around and messing up the overall tranquility of 6mt.net.
I think it is very professional that VQ and Chaz do not censor many post (maybe 5 in my time being here). But, I do think that the site would be well serviced to maybe have another moderator or two.
Typically sites have a couple different moderators:
The Originators: VQ, Chaz, gav (The guys who keep things running smoothly)
Audio/Electronics: Any chum well versed in audio to correct people when they are wrong and lock/delete topics with extreme misinformation.
Modifications Moderator: Someone well versed in the mechanical aspects of the car.
The "Bully" Moderator: Someone who will not hold back when discrimination needs to be shown. On 6mt.net, this moderator should possess the ability to openly and willingly discriminate on any post made by: any British troll, any BMW troll, and lastly any troll possessing multiple-personalities. This, IMO is the most important of all moderators. Just because it is so much fun to watch people try and argue with the Bully Moderator.
Just wondering what everyone else thinks about these things. I in no way intend to step on toes. I just thought that it might seem reasonable seeing that both VQ and Chaz have been so busy with their personal lives, and rightfully so.
Anyway, so what do you guys think? This is a democracy, isn't it? Unless you are Brit, then you have to go listen to some old hag and a bunch of pansies who refer to themselves as the Parliament.
Haha, I was actually thinking that Semi would be perfect for the Audio/Electronics job. But I would hate to volunteer him for anything without his consent--purely out fear for my life. You know how he runs those death squads.
Great nominations. Lipps, Stru and Semi have proven to be a fantastic source of info as well as valuable contributors to this forum. If the powers that be go this route, I would have to give all three my vote as well.
That whole death squad thing does scare the bejesus out of me though, so I retract any said nomination should Mr. On prefer to remain a mere participant.
Perhaps this could be extended to all Drs? I can't think of anyone who could do the job better than the 2K+ posters.

Well, I can only speak for myself... while I appreciate the sentiment, I don't really have the desire to be a moderator. If I were a moderator, I think I'd take it more seriously, and I'd rather just be a goofball. Plus, I spend enough time here as it is. I certainly don't need any reason to spend more.
I don't know if I am too well equipped either. I might be good for the "Bully" Moderator role. But I already play forum bully. It would be cool to delete some people's posts, like all of the people who form the entity known as Slim. I was just thinking that there should be someone there on a regular basis to stop flame wars and lay the smacketh down when need be.
I somewhat agree with the existing policy on censorship--deleting posts should be a last resort. Perhaps mods could just lock threads when they get out of hand.

I am not against the ideal; just think it's not the time to start nominating at this point. "rlipps" ask what do you think about this concept. I suggest taking a poll of folks who is for and against moderating with moderation and have them provide feedback for their decision. This will enable us to better understand the pro’s and con’s and ask questions before making a decision.
If the decision is to move forward I suggest posting a job description for each moderator position from the poll feedback. Then members that meet the qualifications can post their abilities and apply for that specific moderator position. A date deadline to apply would need to be set, and then members could vote of their favorite moderator for each area.
Hot Foot,
I got a different point from rlipps's post. I thought he meant that we should get more people to do the current mod duties (which seem to consist of locking posts) since Chaz and VQ have been very busy lately. I think that someone who has the time to keep watch every day should have the ability to shut down flame wars and, if necessary, delete the (very) occasional post.
