I love these things. I wasn't a fan of the styling at first, but they've definitely grown on me. My buddy has one and he loves it. We also just purchased a Murano as a second vehicle and it's a great little SUV. If money is no option, you have to get the technology package. It's ridiculously expensive, but comes with the reverse camera, intelligent key cards, etc. Really cool.
The FX is the perfect blend between Luxury/Sport/Utility. However, I would check on current resale values before committing to the car. I was expecting to see more of them on the road after the car was introduced, yet for some reason I didn't, but this may just be because of my location (college town).
However, I assume that the FX is doing well just based on the fact that Infiniti has yet to cut production #'s on it.
Love the FX. Like VQ, I didn't dig it at first, but it's definitely grown on me. Also like the Murano. You can get one loaded for about the price of an FX35, I think.
This is going to sound bad... but I wanted a G35 SC... and after going to the car show and sitting in both the FX45 and the G35 SC... I like the FX more. I know the sc looks better, but I have an explorer currently and love the functionality of it. I go camping regularly and tailgate during college football season, and the G just couldnt hold all my stuff. On the other hand, flip down the back seats of the FX and I should have more than enough room. Additionally, when camping, I tow a popup camper to the lake, and an SUV would make this task much easier.
Plus the interior of the FX seemed to be more high quality to me. I also loved all the gizmos it has tied into the navigation.
The G has jumped back into consideration now with its added horsepower. When the money comes in, or the explorer dies, it will be a hard decision to make.
I like the styling, but I'd never get one. I went to an all guys prep school that was heavy in testosterone. Everyone drove SUV's because we'd take them out into the desert for parties and the like. SUV's have always been a utility first sort of vehicle. I just don't see the purpose of them in strictly city driving.
I'd never buy an SUV I couldn't reliably use to tow shit and run shit over.

I feel it's the best-looking SUV available on the market at this time. I would recommend opting for the FX45 if funds will allow, having that extra power would be sweet...
