Now the question. I was trying to take some pictures of my great-niece this past weekend with my HP digital camera. Unfortunately by the time the thing would finally snap the picture, she would be looking away from me. Is this typical of all digital cameras?
p.s. Don't by an HP digital. I've had it replaced once and now the new one has problems.
As a matter of fact I HAVE heard of HP cameras having that slight delay problem. The guy that told me this ended up taking it back and traded in for another brand and was happy with that.
I don't know much about digital cameras and am in the market to buy one here in the next few weeks. From what I've been told I should get a 3.2 megapixel one...but where do I go from there....anyone have any suggestions?

I have an olympus, but this may still apply:
The delay is the auto-focus, white balancer, etc. If you use full manual mode, it should be pretty instantaneous. Also, you can push the shutter halfway and it does all the auto stuff, then when you press it the rest of the way, it snaps immediately.

Unless you get into the $1000 range, you will experience a delay. Some more than others. I recommend any of the Canon PowerShot series for great picture quality, extermely small size, and overall value. They've got one for almost every price range.
Thanks for the advice. No kids yet here so it's not a huge deal but I still could do without the lag for some shots. So many toys to get...so little time.
Cool
Let me know if you're interested in doing anything fun Saturday night. I'll be on the lake during the day (wooo), but I'll probably go out afterwards.
