My mom needs a webcam so she can video chat with AOL Instant Messenger. We use iSight and iChat at our place, which is now compatible with AIM, so she wants to be able to see the kids from across the country.
Any recommendations? She won't need a lot of features. Just something with a semi-decent picture.
Cheap and decent webcams - I'd go with something from Logitech or Creative Labs. You should be able to find them most anywhere and just pick a model that hits your price/feature range.
Bear in mind these are not "high end" units but the great thing about technology is that even the cheapest of webcams now has a fairly decent picture, so you can focus on price.
1) The single worst coders on the planet, resulting in drivers so bad, at one point, that MS broke down and wrote their own which they then distributed through Windows Update.
2) A propensity for buying phenomenal technology and shelving it so they don't have to compete by improving their products (A3D anyone?).
3) A tendancy for pricing solutions incredibly high compared to comeptitors and using half assed solutions with really great marketing spin to convince people their shitty product is better.
4) Personal experience of really shitty stability that will prevent me from ever giving them a cent again.
