While most the US citizens are oblivious to what is happening around them. The savior from heaven has just got his bill passed that will strangle each and every one of you when you open your electric bills.
Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- In a triumph for President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled House narrowly passed sweeping legislation Friday that calls for the nation's first limits on pollution linked to global warming and aims to usher in a new era of cleaner, yet more costly energy.
The vote was 219-212, capping months of negotiations and days of intense bargaining among Democrats. Republicans were overwhelmingly against the measure, arguing it would destroy jobs in the midst of a recession while burdening consumers with a new tax in the form of higher energy costs.
Supporters and opponents agreed the bill's result would be higher energy costs but disagreed vigorously on the impact on consumers. Democrats pointed to two reports -- one from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and the other from the Environmental Protection Agency -- that suggested average increases would be limited after tax credits and rebates were taken into account. The CBO estimated the bill would cost an average household $175 a year, the EPA $80 to $110 a year.
Republicans questioned the validity of the CBO study and noted that even that analysis showed actual energy production costs increasing $770 per household. Industry groups have cited other studies showing much higher costs to the economy and to individuals.
I chose to beleive WE will see the Republican estimate.
Looks like this fellow in the video does not argue what will happen.
Footnote, Pelosi has between 50-100K invested in green energy. Wonder why she supports this with such vigor?
- All homes, regardless of where located, when placed on the market for sale MUST meet Federal Energy Standards (which ARE NOT DEFINED in the bill . If they do not meet these as yet defined criteria - the owner/seller WILL NOT be allowed to sell the home until and unless the home is brought up to 'these standards'.
- All homes that are built from 2010 on MUST MEET CALIFORNIA building energy standards - regardless of local, county, state building requirements in the area.
i think bob1 is running around turning out the lights in his house right now.....
Actually I am concerned, 3400 sq feet, 95-96 degrees every day for like 12-13-14 days in a row and my air conditioners are asking for some time off for good behavior.
Basically all the clowns can to what they want in DC. Just stay the eff out of my pockets.
I'M FED UP AND I"M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE!

Messrs Waxman and Markey, co-sponsors of the Global Warming Bill, also have a vested financial interest.
IMHO, addressing global warming is admirable but there are legitimate questions that need to be answered before we enact such costly 'solutions'... not the least of which is, actually how much of a problem is man-made global warming anyways? After all, Waxman-Markey or any other solution is a solution only to the extent that there's a problem in the first place.
Secondly, if one assumes warming is a problem, how much of it will be solved by the policy under consideration? In other words, if we accept that the increasing trajectory of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations is causing net harm, how much of that harm will be alleviated, how much of that rising trajectory will be reduced by the policy measure in question? Are we eliminating 100 percent of the problem, or 25 percent, or maybe only a few percent? And consequently, how much will the earth's future temperature be reduced: a lot, a little, enough to even notice? These are especially important questions to ask of a costly, unilateral measure like Waxman-Markey.
Third, has this particular solution to global warming has been tried elsewhere, and how well it has worked. What is the real-world experience with this approach? Here there are valuable lessons from Europe, which did us the favor of moving much faster than the U.S. and has already implemented the cap-and-trade approach embodied in Waxman-Markey. And this real-world experience needs to be taken into account.
Last question to ask is whether there are better ways of addressing global warming and, for that matter, better priorities to address than global warming. Looking at all the challenges that present generations face and future generations will face, is this the best use of our resources?
Suffice to say most independent studies conclude the economic pain of the Waxman-Markey Global Warming Bill does not justify the environmental gain. The cap and tax proposal is really a $846 billion national energy tax that will hit nearly every American. A cap and trade system will place the United States economy at a distinct competitive disadvantage because it would add significant additional costs on every American business, farmer, manufacturer and family. It creates higher energy prices and destroys more jobs than it creates.
So why is Congress going to enact the largest and most regressive tax increase in the history of the U.S. at a time we are still struggling to emerge from a devastating economic recession? Why is this administration is trying to steamroll and fast-track this Bill through Congress --just like the $787 billion Stimulus Bill-- before the public even has a chance to read it. Why? Because they know that the bill will create financial burden for everyone! But mainly because this is one big, beautiful socialist wealth redistribution scheme.
Don't believe it? Look at this: Section 432, Energy Refund Program For Low Income Consumers: "(1) The Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, or the agency designated by the Administrator shall formulate and administer the 'Energy Refund Program'. (2) At the request of the State agency, eligible low-income households within the State shall receive a monthly cash energy refund equal to the estimated loss in purchasing power resulting from this Act."
What's an "eligible household"? Pay attention now because, even if this provision is just for the poor, this is a part where the poor get direct deposit transfers of your money... "Participation in the Energy Refund Program shall be limited to a household that (B) has gross income that does not exceed 150 percent of the poverty line. ... (c) Monthly Energy Refund Amount -- "(1) Subject to standards and an implementation schedule set by the Administrator, the energy refund shall be provided in monthly installments via -- (A) direct deposit into the eligible household's designated bank account."
Barack Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress intend to just "direct deposit" your money into the bank accounts of the poor because of their acknowledged "loss of purchasing power" due to the passage of this act. They know your purchasing power will be lost resulting from this act too, but your loss of purchasing power is not going to be compensated. In fact, in addition to paying these new and related carbon energy taxes, you are also going to be redistributing or have redistributed your wealth to the poor courtesy of a governments own direct deposit system. wtf?!!
The true beauty of this plan for the modern-day, left-wing, statist-oriented Democratic Party members is that it also works wonderfully on a much grander scale. Wealth from developed nations will be redistributed to underdeveloped nations who sell their un-needed carbon credits to the big polluters. When the dirt poor nations finally gain real wealth, the new One World Government they seek to create will be ready to pilfer their riches too. Sound far-fetched?
You can stay in denial as long as you want, and as long as you stay in denial the more disposable income you're going to lose and the more of your hard work and income produced from it is going to be transferred to somebody else who doesn't deserve it... and for what? How does that benefit you or somebody else? How does it benefit the U.S. economy? It doesn't. This cap and trade energy plan legislation would only further cripple our economy.
We cannot ignore that America’s economy is intrinsically linked to the availability and affordability of energy. During this economic slow-down, instead of government mandates and bureaucracy, we should focus on policies that support technological advances and consumer choices. We need policies which encourage investment in environmentally sound, cost-effective practices without stifling innovation and setting our economy further back. Contact your representatives in the Senate and tell them to vote NO!

Gawd, if only more people like you would take time in their day to stop and see someone has a gun to their head.
I'll guess as many as 75 percent have no idea what Cap n Trade even means. I'll venture a guess that they are "so busy" with all those important details of life. "Where will I go on my date this weekend", "what time is my kids baseball game", "did we get enough beer for the BBQ?" Yeah, you know, the people that figure we're in good hands with those people watching over us in Washington.
Won't be long till I see the "don't blame me, I voted for McCain" bumper stickers.
After everyone gets their 4-500 dollar electric bills they will be asking, "how did this happen?"
You people are going to be raped and abused but right now, you just don't believe it.
Only one chance left, the people in this country wake up and start calling their senators now. If they ratify the house bill, you should probably sell the G to finance your utility bill.
Don't say you have not been warned.

Just read the highlights below or the total on your electric bill if they pass this POS bill.
From Lynn Westmoreland, congressman, Ga.
On Friday, Lynn voted against the “cap-and-tax” bill called the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. The bill, which passed 219-212, essentially implements a national energy tax in an effort to limit greenhouse emissions.
“In all my years in elected office, I’ve never seen the people’s representatives pass a more economically destructive piece of legislation than this,” Lynn said. “This cap-and-tax system will dramatically raise the cost of business, raise the costs of products, raise the cost of transportation; it will cost many good-paying jobs while at the same time causing the cost of living to soar for American families – about $3,000 a year more in energy costs for the average family of four.
“The numbers just don’t add up. This is liberal fantasy. We can cut our standard of living to the bone and it’s not going to make a difference when China is building six new coal-fired plants a week and when there’s similar growth in India. In case the leaders in Congress and at the White House haven’t noticed, it’s darn hard to find employment right now and this legislation makes it worse by costing the nation well over a million jobs over the next 35 years. And for what? To cut the global temperature by 1 degree by 2050?
“The businesses that provide jobs to Americans are simply going to relocate to other countries with less stringent standards. This won’t lower global temperature. It’ll simply lower our standard of living and make it harder to find work.”
The plan proposed by House Democrats would cost $864 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office, a price tag the nation couldn’t afford even it hadn’t spent trillions on a stimulus package, a bloated budget and corporate bailouts.
Georgia would have 82,000 fewer jobs than would be expected and would see a loss of $15 billion in GDP by 2035, according to an analysis by the Heritage Foundation.
“When we talk about the costs of these laws, we talk about billions and trillions,” Lynn said. “Those numbers are impossible for people to understand. But Georgians understand what an extra $300 to $400 a month in energy costs will do to their family budgets – it’ll be devastating for many families.”
“Every Democratic ‘energy bill’ increases taxes, increases regulation, hurts businesses, raises the cost of living and increases our dependence on foreign oil,” Lynn said. “Our best hope is an ‘all of the above’ energy policy, that increases clean sources such as nuclear, and an investment in continued research into energy alternatives.”
Lynn points that even leading Democrats admit this bill will hit American families hard.
President Obama has said, “Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket.” Obama went on to admit that retrofitting power plants “would cost money and they will pass that money on to consumers.” Michigan Democrat Rep. John Dingell, the longest-serving House member in history, said during an Energy and Commerce Committee hearing: “Nobody in this country realizes that cap and trade is a tax, and it’s a great big one.”

This is a wonderful requirement as a great many houses in Hawaii.........most likely the majority are single wall construction. Our houses will never pass whatever standard is finally agreed upon.

This is so huge and I am shocked by the majority of the population that is just clueless about the subject.
This bill is beyond comprehension, 1400 pages and the last 300 pages were delivered at 3:00 AM before the vote. Clueless Congressmen and women in the house in lock step with whatever Pelosi and Obama tell them.
This bill will ruin you, your life and this country people. I want to walk down the street and grab people and shake them to wake up.
This would be the largest tax increase on any people by any government in the history of mankind!
