RV Anti-Freeze vs. Auto Anti-Freeze?
Need some help on this one...
Had a gallon of pink RV Anti-Freeze and a gallon of blue Windshield Washer Fluid sitting outside the garage in the snow bank. I use the former to winterize the pool.
Wifey has to take a roadtrip so, smartly, she "tops off" the washer fluid in her Yukon XL. About an hour into the trip she calls and says her washer fluid is froze up, she can't see sh!t and asks whether I think she should pull off the Thruway to run through a car wash in an attempt to thaw up the washer fluid lines. I just told her to tailgate an 18-wheeler whenever she needed a wash!
But, when she got home, I did check underhood only to find an empty washer fluid reservoir. Wtf? Well, the truth eventually came out. Unfortunately, she had spied the pink coolant in the clear plastic overflow reservoir, which appeared low because the engine was cold, assumed it was the washer fluid and well you know the rest. She dumped about a half gallon of the RV Anti-Freeze into the coolant overflow reservoir.
Q.) Since both fluids are glycol based pink anti-freezes, may I assume that there will be no long-term problems if I do not immediately flush and replace the coolant?
