Are you guys confusing the Illinois state legislature with the US senate again?
His record of action or inaction in the state legislature is as important to me as his record in the US senate.

Have you ever been to a state legislative session? I know that Nevada's are moderately hectic. Many bills are a foregone conclusion, many get voted on but by only enough representatives to kill or pass it while others are off preparing other bills. Many reps abstain to avoid any possible perception of a conflict of interest.
Now I don't know anything about the structure of the Illinois legislature, but that's why I can't draw any conclusions about his record there.

mccain has gone beyond changing his view. he's flip flopped, pandered, and lied. he's saying whatever he needs to to get elected
The same is done of all the politicians at this level. They change their tune based on their audience. For you to think that Obama is above this is naive at best........

i didnt say that. but compared to mccain. his changes look minimal. mccain is flailing like a fish out of water
It was just a slip guys, you know like when you are talking and you say some thing like "I wish my penis was bigger" and you meant to say "I wish my salary was bigger".

........so soon you forget Obama's own religious scandal from this year.......
there is no scandal. plenty of people slip and say things they dont mean. how many times have you spoken to someone and they said something and you ended spitting out the same word they just said.

Yes Rev. Wright. Attend the guy's church for years, then wammo all of a sudden you don't believe in the hate he's spewing out.
Now I don't think Obama believed it anyway, but he was content to give the impression he did in front of that crowd and now something else in front of the entire country.

while someof the things rev wright said were extreme. like the gov giving blacks aids.
as said. the basis of what he said most black relate to.
for alot of us, being american is a love/hate relationship.
i love my country but at the same time i hate it.
i would never fight a war for my country b/c my country doesnt treat us well enough for me to lose my life for it. alot of you make think its fucked up. but if you are a person of color many can relate as well.
we are all amerians but america hasnt treated us all the same nor do we see america the same way as eachother
go into any black church around the nation and if the pastor gets on race and politics. he's not going to sound like a pastor from a white church.
he may not sound as extreme as JW. but outsiders would find what he/she says controversial
........so Obama's OK although he sat in that church for years? Come on man, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. You need to fully diss Obama for being a two faced person...........or just accept the fact that all the politicians are like that at their level of politics.

he wasnt there for that sermon. and second. i dont need to diss him. whites cant tell us the right and wrong way how to feel about our country.
its not two faced. deep down mccain could be a racist. but hey. thats something of high possiblility and can be expected. and something we would have to deal with if he was to get office like any other president.
something we blacks have been having to deal with.
yall didnt see us complaining when all we had to choose from was White presidents and their true feelings behind closed doors. whatever they were
so dont try to demonize us b/c our view isnt the same as yalls which its never going to be.
i find it funny that you ahve all thiese people in the bible belt/the evangelicals and alot of the same people are racist. to me, bigorty is sin but these extremely religious people dont see it as sin.
so lik eyou said. whats good for the goose is good for the gander
this election has shown two things. how racist this country still is and how many people have gotten beyond race. it seems like more people that are voting have gotten beyond race which are those that support obama.
based on numbers, i believe more people will vote for obama than mccain. so we will see if it turns out to be true

that makes me proud of my country
You have to remember what religion is, it's people control. There is no thing as an almighty god that created everything, if so, where is he now. Churches were early forms of control, that is all. You better behave or this god that you can't see but is watching you will strike you down if you break his laws.
That said, every religion is just what the group that follows it wants it to be.
And being a racist is nothing compared to what many people of 'faith' have done to those not of there 'faith'. How many people since the begining of time have died just because of religion?
