Alright guys, I just launched my website spadeanddiamond.com - Home and I need your help to spread the word. It's a new web comic with a unique look at life through the eyes of the Ace of Spade and the Ace of Diamond. The main theme of the comics are games, from casino games to video games, so if you don't know poker or casino gaming lingo you might not get the jokes. Here are the competitions: Keenspot: The Spot For Comics. A powerhouse that gets over 20 million hits per month but they suck. It's not even funny. Anyways, check out the 'Archives' section and the 'Help ME!' section. The 'Help ME' section has poker t-shirts I designed but haven't found a company to make them yet. The ultimate goal is to wholesale to the gift shops in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and other casino destinations. Just between LV and AC annual visitors number over 70 million. If I can just capture 1% of that market, which is 700,000, people I'll be happy. Anyways, enjoy the comics and be a fan! Oh and wish me luck. Thanks!
Ok, so with your single comic you are wanting to topple Keenspot and their 20+ comics. Good luck with that, got quite the task ahead of you.
Suggestion is to move the misc stuff above the comic either to a column on the side or below the comic. And scale down the size of the header graphic with the name of the comic. You're trying to sell people on the comic, yet it's not the most prominent thing on the page and you have to scroll down the page to see it all.

Yea I haven't really got down to the nitty gritty with the business aspect but I was thinking about discounts for those who register. I just wanted to get the comics out there first then worry about the biz part after. I had a really big poker player backing me but not anymore, he backed out. On my own again. Oh well.
Oh and Phelan, I'm so happy you think so highly of my work! I never said I was going to topple keenspot.com, I merely stated they have the competition in there but I'm so glad you don't twist my words around and really think I can compete with them. You're a credit to this forum and to the world!
750, the comics and laughter are free but the t-shirts aren't. Poker shirts are pretty big these days and it's going to be hard but I know I can compete with the crap out there these days: Yahoo! Shopping Search Results for poker t shirts
One thing that stands out is that my shirts have the comics behind them. If you read the mission statement you can see that I don't sell t-shirts, I sell tangible memory the fans can take home. Also, if you read my post carefully my ultimate plan is to break in to the souvenir market for casino destinations. That's going to be the REALLY hard part. I didn't put up the designs for those markets on my site yet. Wish me luck.

Honestly if you're are aiming at the level of comics hosted at Keenspot, you aren't setting your sights very high. Getting to the level of a Keenspot comic would be a good stepping stone, but they're a small time player in webcomics. Penny Arcade, PvP, Real Life, Day by Day is more the level I would anticipate you are wanting to get to; the level where you aren't just doing the comic and selling a few shirts but have people wanting to buy print outs of individual comics, collections of the comics in books, asking you to speak at events, etc.
Interpret it however the hell you want, but I was wishing you luck in eclipsing Keenspot. The poker oriented jokes I don't get since I don't play, but the artwork itself looked good.

well, do what you want. i would charge for each laugh.

I wish I could But as of now the syndications do not want anything thing to do with drinking or gambling. They said they had a great laugh but the materials are not what they are looking for so they wished me luck and sent me on my way. So the web is the only other alternative for independent cartoonists. I think this is the best way to go because I have no one to answer to and I can express myself anyway I want. Of course it'll be that much harder to get known and blah blah blah. However, I believe in the material and I do feel that I was born to do this. I never thought I'd go this route but I am and I'm going all in on this.
