I've said this before, but I certainly do not believe that everyone in this world is a racist. If anything, I believe that everyone is some what biased and have prejudiced opinions of others. This is the primary reason that people can be made to understand other and become more educated and open minded towards others. If everyone were racist this probably could not be accomplished.

sub-consciously racist, in my opinion means that someone has prejudices implanted in their heads: through the media, their upbringing, their environment, whatever, and when put in a situation where logically they should act a certain way, instinct takes over and makes them react against what their educated, logical mind should dictate. they might even laugh afterward at their stupid and myopic reaction, but for some reason, their prejudicial instinct kicked in and superseded their logic.
and everyone i know - EVERYONE - i know has some sort of prejudice towards some group, whether ethnic, gender, or sexual preference, whatever and believes certain stereotypes.
i also find, that the more you work in civil service, e.g. Police, Criminal Law, etc., the more these prejudices begin to grow. it's a place that allows them to ferment longer.
so subconsciously racist . . . if that doesn't work for you, then try subconsciously prejudice.
