It's not competing with the G and it's not a sports car. 9.8 sec isn't that bad for people who don't care about speed; they probably won't even look at the number. I'm sure they'll explain better in the article, but I believe the Prius won because it's proof-of-concept for the next generation of cars. It's an amazing achievement--possibly even the most important innovation in car history. Now we know we can make hybrids work; power, speed, and sportiness will follow.
