no one said anything about special agent. zero could just say hes with the FBI and flash his badge. he'd get all the boys.
That's the thing they can't identify themselves as such. It's falsely misleading people and pretending to represent themselves as a field special agent.

so they can't say 'i work for the fbi' and show someone their ID? i would think that'd be hard to prove as misrepresentation.
Well they "can" say that, but if they did so to mislead then they "could" get in some hot water.
Also, those in the public "should" know enough that if someone states that they "work" for the FBI, but doesn't identify themselves with the proper title of "special agent" they are not a field agent.
One of the things that people don't know is that the FBI/CIA employ lots of people. Only a small percentage are "field agents". Most are analysts/admin/HR/etc. They all have badges/ID's, but you don't see any of them whip it out.
It's like how all the city/state district attornies and assist DA's have badges that look like cop badges. I know because my cousin is an ADA and she's got a badge.
Most people who work for the gov't have some sort of ID/badge to identify themselves, for security purposes and ingress/egress of buildings, etc.
