Any business owners out there?
I need to hire someone for my advertising firm. I need an independent sales person and I want to hire them as a 1099 to make it easier on me.
When I find the right candidate, do I need to file any initial paperwork or just pay their commissions like I would pay any normal expense? I know that I will have to send out a 1099 at years end, but I am wondering what all I need them to fill out and if I need to file anything with the Gvt and/or IRS.
Thanks

i thought about it. you'll work for compliments which is good, but i don't think you'd do a very good job...

From my understanding you don't need to file anything upfront. Could be totally wrong though as my side of the 1099 is as the employee.

yes that is pretty much what my accountant friend told me... he said since they would be contracted labor, i would write him/her commission checks just as i do any other expense, and provide a 1099 at years end. i just wanted to be sure.
